Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Mal - Thanks for the offer of help. I may need it...I'm good at planning for the worst and hoping for the best. Since we'll be staying with friends and my sister will be my chauffer I think I'll be just fine though.

I leave Denver LATE 7/12 so I might be able to meet too! Just post time and place and we'll see if I'm up to it. Two days post-op I should be fine though...drugs and walking that's all I need!

Went on a hike yesterday...it was sooo sunny! We went up to a waterfall, kids loved it! Saw moose, cranes, reindeer (there are herds here like there are herds of cows elsewhere - people raise them), and musk ox! It was a good day!

In my OTHER SELF I am an artist. This multi medium piece is recycled ties. There are a series of four paintings called "Tie Scrapers".

They were in a casino north of where I live but that has since closed so I don't know where the owner has them.

Here are two. One is called "Ties Square New Years Eve."

Okay Wicked Witch (Lap Dancer) - you really do get into it. Thanks for sharing the people who are in your life, including the pets (they are people, too!). You are a lucky woman to experience that tropical beauty every day. I'm jealous!

Again, sounds as if the 12th might work for a get together. Mal, Woofay, Drews, Marcyinack, Lap Dancer???????????

let me know what works. Hugs to you all,

Question: What kind of clothes should I pack for my surgery? I don't really want to wear a muu-muu the whole time (not that I own one anyway, but you get the idea). I'm thinking jeans are definitely out. How will the weather be down there? I would guess hotter than hot, but you never know!

THANKS!

Mal - I was going to post the July 11th for our next meeting, but you won't be able to be there. What about the 12th?

I don't really care if we go back to Red Robin or not. Any other ideas?

I am doing ok. I worked out. Treated myself to a Starbuck's Iced Soy Latte and hope it gives me some oomf! I have lots to do with very little motivation.

Last night I had a pity party - felt lonely and then head hungry - and ate about a cup of chocolate chips (from the freezer). They just didn't do it for me! I'm trying not to beat myself up for it, it was the first real slip into old behavior since my pre surgery diet.

Hi Dyno!

I'm sure the 12th will be fine for me. I am pretty much open to any place.

Dyno, your doing great! Dont beat yourself up...I always remember the Drews quote about doing this not to be on a diet for the rest of her life...I wote it down on my calendar... it's so true, be good to yourself don't restrict yourself from treats every now and then...I think you deserve it. You are entitled to a treat. ((((hugs)))), I can't get the little pic to come up...there it is!;):girl_hug:

LapDancer,

I absolutly LOVE the pics! You are sooo much fun!! Smooches to the pooches. Your kitties..soooo adorable. Handsome son, is he a model?

I LOVE Halloween too. We have costume parties every year...let's see I was Louise Layne and hubby was Superman (hysterical he kept trying to carry me around all night), famiy went as goldie locks and the 3 bears (my oldest son was goldie locks...LOL), I was the socket, hubby the plug, The Good, the bad and the ugly (of course i was the good)...I can't remember some of the others....too much fun! I am all about "theme" parties, we do Disco parties, of course Luau's, Monte Carlo Night, and of course Halloween!

I'm diggin' your art too, again we have a commonality. I ADORE art! still want to be a commercial artist when I grow up!

fun, fun, fun!!!

marcyinak,

I wore stretchy pants and a t shirt. The weather should be hot, hot, hot! I have alot of those "just my size" T's and shorts, they were perfect for after surgery, I also wear sports bras (they are nice and stretchy) and flip flops or some kind of slip on shoe, you are not going to want to bend over to put shoes on and or tie them! and don't forget the sunscreen if you plan on being out in this high altitude sun...and of course drink as much Water as you can so you don't get alt sickness, I'm sure you know about that stuff, but I thought I would add it anyway!

I am excited for you! Hope to meet you in July!!

Good morning Bandmates:

Marcy I wore my monkey PJ's to Parker the morning of my surgery. The fabric is jersey knit, real popular with teen girls in the form of funky drawstring pants and matching t's. You can find them at Lane Bryant, Fashtion Bug..pretty much anywhere. Think comfort. For the next few days I wore my BED and sheets as in slept. Bring flip flops to slide on after the surgery when you are going home. Just keep it simple.

Thank you all for the kind words. I think pictures liven up a thread.

Glad you all are enjoying them.

Mal I do PARADES as in parade floats. I almost brought Mardi Gras beads to our Gathering. I have loads. One of my most favorite photos from one of the parades I was in:

Hi all - Okay, we will try for the 12th, can you do it Lap Dancer, Drews, Woofay, post op marcyinak?

I have been dabbling with acrylics, but not in the big way Patty has. Hats off to you. I loved the "Punk Sister" Water color.

I tried but I can't figure out how to put a picture on here. Oh well.

Hugs I need to go weigh in - wish me luck!

The 12th *should* work for me. I see my knee doc that day and expect a release back to skating which means I *could* practice that night but I can skip it for you girls!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
