Michelle the saga of your son is something I find amusing. My 21 year old put us through the wringer. Beyond his pizza delivery mishap where he stopped to double check the address then made the left turn without double checking. BAMMO Batman. He is fine but was so shookup. The other guy felt more sorry for him than anything. Hope we can get together when I hit Denver. I'll post my flight info when I get it. My sister is booking the flight for me as she is a flight attendent.

To all, I will write more in the morning. I'm drafting my daughter's engagement annoucement for the newspapers. YAY!

Take care.

Hope all is well with everyone. I am doing good. I am back to work today. I am going to try not to take any pain meds today, shouldn't really need any, I have been feeling pretty good. My belly is quite swollen though, but no pains, no gas, no neausea...keeping my fingers crossed that it stays this way.

Drews~good luck with your knee surgery on Wednesday, youll be back on your skates before ya' know it!

Whew! Did anyone get the swollen belly? My belly is so stretched. I have been fairly active, walking alot, shopping alot, iced my belly. I hope it goes down soon, I am tryng to find outfits for graduation and I am having a hard time because I am so swollen! I hate to do it, but I think I am going to have to go to Layne Bryant. I hate to spend alot money on clothes.

I just wanted to introduce myself to this thread. I've actually read the WHOLE thing (yes, it took me a few days of bookmarking and whatnot) to get a feel for everyone's experiences with Dr. K and their experiences with the surgery in general. I worked up the courage to add DrewsLou on myspace and have finally worked up the courage to stop lurking and post on here. I feel like I know all of you from reading about your experiences! You're all awesome, too :biggrin1: .

I'm considering going to Dr. K for my surgery. I'm a self pay and all of the doctors in my area have pretty outrageous prices. My parents are strongly urging me to get surgery in the area, but I don't think it's affordable. I'm a little worried about finding a fill doctor, though. Another Dr. K bandster is from my area (central NC) and had a bad experience with a fill doctor who may or may not have known what he was doing. I have a lot of important decisions to make, and that's a bit daunting.

I'd like to get surgery at the beginning of July so I can be back on track when heading back to school at the end of August. I realize in order to do that I need to contact Dr. K asap, and even then I probably can't get in that soon. I need to get the ball rolling, though!

I'm 22 and I just really want to live the life of someone my age. Well, not entirely :P . I just want to be more active. I've always wanted to go to the Caribbean and do some adventure type vacations. I've always wanted to do an Outward Bound type of thing but have always been held back by my weight. I think I'll treat myself to some backpacking through Europe once I reach my goal weight (wishful thinking :P ). Or, ya know, just live a normal life of someone who's healthy!

Anyway, sorry for being long winded. That's me, in a nutshell. I have a lot to say  . I hope this finds all of you well!

tahillia,

Welcome to Dr. K's thread! I did the samething, I lurked and read for a while and then I decided to just jump in and I am sooo happy that I did! It is soo nice coming to a place where people support you and most of all understand what you are going through. The advice and support is amazing, I don't know if I would have followed through without the support. I wish you the best in your journey. I wish I would of had this opportunity at your age! Folllow your dreams, make them happen, you deserve to live a hppy life!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I hope I can start adding my updates to this tread, too  . I have to admit I spend a good bit of time on the forums and do a bunch of research while I'm class. I'm such a slacker :bored hehe.

DrewsLou- I've had three knee surgeries in the past five years, and while they're not fun AT ALL, they're not that bad either. I've had 14 surgeries total under general, so I have a lot to compare it to, lol.

Good luck and take care of yourself ;)

I wrote this long response to everyone this am, but the aol gods unplugged me. Sometimes I hate the internet. So a quick recap

Drews - Best wishes! I'll bet you'll be roller skating in no time at all. I think so much is in the attitude and you have a great one. hugs and a quick recovery!

tahillia - good luck and welcome! I'm sure you can find a good fill doc, and I swear by Dr. K. He's a wonderful surgeon. I can't believe you've been through so many surgeries. Wow!

Mal - keep up the good work. How are you feeling today? I had some of the stomach swelling, but keep the ice on it and it really works. hugs to you too.

Smiling -

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
