Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Confused...I thought today was the baseline weight for the challenge. Works for me that we're deducting though.

On the 5th Julie said:

For the challenge, you would weigh yourself on Friday (the beginning of the challenge) then every Friday after that. Post how much you lost and I'll keep track.

so I assumed the 6th was the starting date and the 13th was the first "reporting" day.

I don't PB I just burp. A lot, like a guy. For such a small pouch, there's a lot of air in it.

I had my ovarian cyst surgery this morning. It was a much different experience than my band surgery. With the band, surgery was at 3pm and I was in the car by 6:30pm. My stomach hurt, but I didn't feel bad at all. Surgery today at 7am and not out until 1pm. I also felt a lot worse. They didn't quite get all the gas out, so my ribs hurt. I also have stitches in my three new holes, which I think is odd. The anesthesiologist crushed my lip, so it's swollen on one side. I can recommend Dr. K even more now.

Do I have losses? How about -4.2 pounds! So excited!

Can we add our starting challenge weight on your list? I forgot what it was and had to go back and look.

So my starting weight for this challenge was 209.8, my current weight is 205.6.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Sorry your surgery was more rough! Sounds bad. I didn't have any gas at all with my Band, but I did have the fat lip. Not bad, but it was swollen. Good luck getting through this time of recovery. Do you still have saline in your band? Try to not get dehydrated because it will make your band tighter. It always does mine.

Deb, A Loss is a Loss! I am so sorry you're Mom and Dad aren't doing well. Your poor Dad has lot on his shoulders with your Mom being sick and your Mom is so special to you and there you are - with everyone on your small shoulders. You're carrying the weight of a lot of struggles right now. Be kind to yourself.

Yep, I have a lovely fat lip. Didn't have that last time. I am feeling pretty good right now. I am tired and a bit dizzy, but I don't really even need pain meds. I have to go out today for the first time. It will be a good test. I plan to go back to work tomorrow. I just sit mostly at my job, so I hope it won't be too bad. Otherwise I will just go home. I am trying to drink a lot. I am bad at that. I have no fill at all in my band, but I am a bit tight. I am eating a lot of oatmeal and find I just can't eat that much. I have been using the Protein and granola bars to make up some. I am having some reflux, but that should calm down soon.

I am sorry to hear about your parents. That is a tough time. It is also very stressful. As hard as it is don't overdo it and take care of yourself.

WOW. Good for you. :) I'm impressed! I guess this fill was it, huh?? How are you feeling?? Not too much getting stuck or anything??

Bet you're glad you ate that pizza now.

Sure can!

So..... I decided to do the 5 day pouch test, hoping I could jump start the weight loss process a bit. (For those who don't know what this is, it is 2 days of liquids/cream Soups. Day 3 soft Protein, Day 4 firm protein and Day 5 solid protein.)

Anyway..... I have done 2 days of liquid Proteins (I'm on my 3rd now) and I have GAINED almost 5 pounds!!!! I'm pretty sure that is NOT how this is supposed to work

I'm aware this is not supposed to be to make you lose, but they say most people do lose some during this. I'm darn sure it is not supposed to make you gain!!!

I am drinking more than the prescribed 64 ounces and peeing like a race horse :) So I don't know what is going on. <sigh>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
