WEIGH-IN DAY GIRLS.

I am finally out of the 180's for good. I lost 3 pounds this week. I had been going back between 179 and 181 for awhile but I don't want to see 180's again. How was everyone's Easter? Mine was good. I did eat things I shouldn't have but because I can't eat much, I just pretty much tasted everything. I love the band. I can remember when I loved holiday parties because of the food and would gorge myself. Now I just enjoy family and fun. I just can't believe how my mindset has changed regarding food. I see restaurant signs for buffets and such and I just don't get that excited about it anymore because I know I can't eat much so what's the point. And the funny thing....I am getting used to it so I am not sad about not being able to eat. My band is doing it's job and changing the way I feel about food!!!!

Bella,

GOOD FOR YOU! I've just been banded a little over a month but I know what you mean, food just isn't that exciting anymore, for the first time in my life. The band was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Put me down for -1.5 so far!

Cheryl

hey, miss dee, home yet?

not home yet Deb! I'm in NY still. I'll be leaving tomorrow afternoon! I can't believe this week went by so fast!

:)MEMORIAL DAY CHALLENGE (In memory of the way we used to eat!)

PRTYANTOVRYT.........(Goal 25lbs)

I don't have a scale here in the hotel! I can't believe I've gone 6 days without weighing myself! I am going through major withdrawals! I'll get my weight to you when I get home! Thanks Bella!

You can put me down for -1.2

Lotza', sounds like staying on liquids for a few days might be a good idea. Sorry everything hurts . . .

Miss Dee, way to go on the NSV! Are you back yet?

Thanks Mini! Yeah! Can you believe I didn't need a belt extender? I was thrilled!

So.... I have a question. The first couple of days after my fill were great. But the last few have been weird. I can't really eat anything with more consistency than Soup or I hurt. Not like a stuck kind of hurt, but actual pain in chest, jaw, and headaches. Am I just at the stage where I actually have real restriction and just need to wait for my body to adjust? I have made the unfortunate discovery that potato chips go down nice and easy though. We had company last night and I had some. I have decided that I am just going to do shakes and Soups until I adjust. No chips. That leads down a bad road.

How are you doing now?

I wanted to respond to your post, but I couldn't. The computer kept freezing on us. I'm wondering if you're too tight. Make sure you don't get dehydrated and that you're getting in your Protein requirement. Are you still having pain?

I still seem pretty tight, and sometimes even when I'm not eating, I get this pain. Idk what to do but wait it out. Tried some solids last night and it did not go well. Back to liquids and mushies for a while. Thank goodness I like milk, it has really helped me keep my calories and protein up. Actually thinking about going back to adding Protein Powder to pudding and such. Well, as I lose the band will be looser so it will probably work itself out soon.

Don't let yourself stay too tight for too long. Is your tightness related to your TOM or stress or something other than your fill? If you're in constant discomfort or unable to get in adequate calories including your protein, you might want to consider getting a little removed. I'm not trying to scare you, Dear, I just want you to be safe.

I care about you!

I'm the only one so far this week that gained. This is not good. :)

Jaime! I haven't weighed yet Honey! I may have gained big time! You can't imagine how good NY pizza tastes!

Thankfully with the band, I can't eat more than half of a piece! But I could easily eat that 3 times a day!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
