On day 4 of the preop diet and I am no longer hungry but I keep bursting into tears at the drop of a hat. I'm so emotional and sensitive. I feel like an idiot. Did anyone else go through this?!

Day 5 for me and I did briefly break down today. My husband said something to me and I took it the wrong way. In hindsight, it was stupid and I normally would not have reacted like that. I am going thru periods of the day where I feel hungry. This liquid diet is tough! 9 more days to go! :)

Awww...honey, I'm sorry. :( It's probably just the solid food withdrawal. It will get better!

I was a hot mess the night before surgery - I think it's part of the process - just chuckle a little to yourself when you catch yourself acting like a character from a Telenovella!

Thank you all. @kirk you slay me. That's exactly how I feel today. Like a telenovela.

I cried every day for a week leading up to and after surgery! I was a mess! It was all the build up I had inside of me and it was finally happening. Plus, after surgery, you do not feel good for 2-3 days and u can't turn to food and I cried. Now, I'm 4 weeks post op and I'm fine. ???? Hang in there!

I have considering the surgery for quite some time. i was initially denied by my insurance company, then got approved the other day. I was told that my surgery would be in 12 days! I was excited that it was finally happening but it was really quick! It has been an emotional roller coaster but I keep thinking about the outcome and I smile again. Keep your chin up :)

I think the emotional roller coaster happens in pre and post op. I'm due to have surgery 05/20 and I have had a few cryung spells.

My sister told me she was on her way to her bf's house last night and i burst out crying like if she had just given me terrible news. I felt so guilty cuz she stayed. I even sent my bf a nasty text. I guess i'm just looking for a little attn maybe?

I cried the morning of my surgery when 2 co-workers called to say a quick prayer. Then i started tearing when a nurse came in to get my vital signs and then started secretly crying when i was walking away from my family.

This is an emotional battle for everyone and i feel like it is normal. Our body is going through a major change.

Don't worry it happens to the best of us!!!

Thank you so much to everyone. I am feeling a lot better now. My friend came over and was a very calming listening ear. I think my body is getting detoxed and my hormones are raging. I dunno.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
