Hi all, I'm post op day 5 (sleeved on Tuesday) and I keep feeling weaker and more tired. I'm only getting in about half my liquid and probably less than 10g Protein a day (my surgeon has no min/max protein for the first two weeks). Which do you think is the bigger issue for my feeling weak and tired, the Water or the protein? Thanks.

I would focus on fluids and rest - I mean, c'mon - day 5 after MAJOR surgery!!

The Protein and stuff will come in time :) Don't make yourself sick with worry.

Your body is going through a lot of work to heal up. In the short term, you'll be tired, regardless of what you're eating. Just focus on the most important thing - liquids!

If you're really worried, though, or you truly think you're abnormally weak, it is probably a good idea to contact your surgeon on Monday just to reassure yourself.

I'm day 6 post op sleeved Monday and feeling same way. I am concentrating in liquids. I am now able to drink more Water than I was three days ago which I consider progress. I am tired and week too. It's a lot because of surgery and little because we're losing a part of us that in someways we like during a very hard time of year. Focus on getting to the next week and try taking a walk a breathing some fresh air.

I felt exactly the same way at 5 days out. And I really felt like I was never going to get my strength back... But little by little you will feel stronger. Each day take a little more protein and Water (even if it is just a few more sips). I am 4 weeks out and starting to feel so much better. I was even able to walk 3 miles around the track yesterday! I am up to about 80 grams of protein and about 60 oz of water a day... So just rest when you need to now - your body will tell you when you are ready for more.

liquids are so important right now. You can't get better if you are dehydrated. If you can't sip much, try ice chips in between. They helped me so much. Some folks don't like the cold, but warm tea works for them. If you can do warm, put some unflavored Protein powder such as unjury in it. You can try sipping in Isopure. It's on the Clear Liquids, the grape is good but they have lots of flavors, similar tasting to G2. Counts as liquids and Protein. Every oz of Isopure has 2 grams of protein! Also, nectar has a very light tasting drink that is loaded with protein, tastes just like Crystal light. While getting liquids is the most important thing, the more protein you can get at this stage will help so much with healing and energy.

Also, if you need to sleep or rest. DO IT! You have just been through a major surgery and your body needs the rest. Try to listen to your body, it won't steer you wrong.

Trying to get your liquids and protein is a full time job at this stage but worth the effort.

Other thing you need to know is: it will get better, After about 10 days or so you will be feeling so much better! Hang in there!

I know it sounds stupid. I am 12 days out and i was exhausted the first few days all i wanted to do is sleep, but i went out and walked walked walked. It helped me feel less tired and i was able to come home and sleep without any issues. If you can get out and walk for at least 30 - 45 minutes per day you should it will help.

Get as much rest as you can throughout the day.

I still feel tired but the walking helped a lot. I am still waiting for that BURST of energy everyone talks about after surgery lol. Good Luck!

My doc said to concentrate on fluids first, then the Protein. sugar free Popsicles have been my savior - 2 oz of liquid each. I can also do tea, which helps. Stuff that is too cold makes my poor tummy spasm. :(

I think I'm right there. My "naps" are turning into 4 hours. Gatorade and pedialyte are not on the agenda to pick up tomorrow. I was sleeved the 19th. Freshly off of antibiotics as well.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
