amanda1978 3 Posted April 1, 2013 I started purée stage on Wed and I'm struggling more than I was on liquids. I constantly feel like I need to burp, but can't. I don't think I'm getting enough calories or liquids in. I'm panicking and thinking I might need to just go back to liquids. I am so thirsty but Water, juice, crystal light, propel zero - nothing tastes right. Getting frustrated - what advice do you have? 1 beba238 reacted to this
*Dean* 1,594 Posted April 1, 2013 You still need plenty of liquids and it's fine to keep having anything and everything you were having on free liquids. You need to stay hydrated. You should only be introducing things on the puree stage. And for me it was difficult also. I had this thing where the puree would feel suspended and then after a few seconds drop into my stomach with some pain. Wasn't nice. If you try something and it doesn't work. Stop it. try something different. Go back to what didn't work at a later time. 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
johnlatte 1,232 Posted April 1, 2013 Are you on any type of ppi? Extra gas and stomach acid could be the reason for the burping and tastes not being there. If you aren't taking one, you can either get an prescription like nexium or a otc like prilosec. Also you have to sip and not use a straw. It will be better. 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
beba238 123 Posted April 1, 2013 Walk walk walk walk walk. Tomorrow. Wake up. Go to the mall or any place where you can window shop. AND WALK. I felt the same way your feeling and i walked around Walmart for like 1 hour and then bj's for another hour and the next day i felt so good. And as time went on i kept walking a little here and there. I kinda also had the same issue that every time i tried to eat i wanted to burp and i would try to force it but nothing happened. Its like acid reflux so get chewable tablets like prilosec. 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
DLV75 7 Posted April 1, 2013 I will be four weeks out on Tuesday. I'm on a ppi and still get the feeling that I have to burp when I eat. The puréed foods are not my favorite. I found that smaller bites and waiting a full minute between each bite help with the awkward feeling. I'm eating Greek yogurt and puréed Soup for most meals right now. I cannot wait for soft foods stage. 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
amanda1978 3 Posted April 1, 2013 Thank you all for your replies. To clarify, I was sleeved on 3/13 and in week 3 heading into 4 on Wed. I am taking a PPI so I wish that would solve the issue, but apparently not. I feel worse today than yesterday although I've managed to squeeze in more calories today than all day yesterday. Same with liquids. I've discovered orange flavor is ok so I have Vitamin Water and Gatorade. I know they aren't the diet variety, but at this point I'm thinking any non-caffeinated liquid is good if it's going down. Yesterday I was able to do a Protein shake, but today it was too sweet and too thick and was making me feel nauseous. I think I do need to take the time to slow down. I brought my baby spoons to work today so smaller bites and more time between bites is what I'm trying today. I don't feel all that great, but I think I'm just a little discouraged from the discomfort. Dean, as you described that "suspended feeling" is what I feel like all day long. Maybe Gas-X strips will help this weird full/bloated-yet-hungry-at-times sensation. I can't even begin to talk about getting in my Vitamins. Crushed in yogurt or applesauce has completely turned me off from both products with or without the Vitamins. At this point I'm getting in my 2 Flintstones, b-12, & Biotin (both sub-lingual - in addition to my birth control pill and ppi. Calcium & Lysine are sitting in the pill pack staring at me. Thanks for all the suggestions - I'm going to try walking around the office now - unfortunately I can't escape too far as it's month/quarter-end reporting now. zoogrl 12 Posted April 1, 2013 I am still on liquids but yesterday I was so hungry and ate about 1/2 of a stage 1 turkey and broth baby food. I felt fine and it was very finely puréed. My nut recommended stage 2 baby foods for the puréed stage. I just needed a tiny little bit of salt. It was kinda tasty! I have meat sticks (Vienna sausage like) for when it's time. Maybe it will be more gentle on the stomach since its designed for baby tummies good luck! 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
Bree 65 Posted April 1, 2013 I was sleeved 3/14 by Dr. Aceves. I am in my puree stage as well. I am finding that most purees are not sitting well in my stomach. I did find that squeezing lime into plain Water to turn it acidic made a HUGE difference. I am now able to drink so much more liquids. It's a revelation. Juices, protien shakes, and non-water liquids I am struggling with big time. I am not sticking to my diet as close as I ought to be, however, I expect that will come in time when I am fully healed, all I can do is do my best. My biggest focus right now is getting in enough liquid so I don't dehydrate. I am still in a position where eating is not enjoyable. Things that work for me: Stage 2 baby food "pouches", good way to get in veggies and Fiber without getting ass explosions Watered down hummus, though the garlic was a bit much liquid drinkable probiotic yogurts (they're the perfect size too) Water with a squeeze of lime hawaiian style coconut gel (haupia) broth sugar free pops protien shakes if I can handle them but usually I can't. pureed Soups. 1 amanda1978 reacted to this
