Melissa1234 69 Posted April 1, 2013 Hi everyone! I'm 3 months in to my 6 month preop insur requirement, 30 years old, 5'4 240 with a bmi of 41. My weight got out of control during and after my pregnancy. After birth, I was diagnosed with depression anxiety and bipolar. Went through 4 years of trials of meds gaining 60 lbs on top of the 50 I gained during pregnancy (yikes!). So here I am, hoping to get gastric sleeve surgery. I've gained and lost since then but nothing significant. I'm terrified of the actual surgery and recovery but trying to stay positive. Open to any advice you have for me. Have learned so much from this site already, love it!
DrmBig4Evr 152 Posted April 1, 2013 The preparation is the most difficult part, getting insurance approval, pre-op diet and then it gets a little easier. The surgery experience itself is individual. The worst part for me was the first 24 hours, after that, day by day it got better. I learn something new about myself daily. This is much more of a mental game and your relationship with food than following a "diet". You can do it if you put your mind to it! I am happy with my decision! Good luck! tnellp 12 Posted April 1, 2013 Good luck! My surgery is tomorrow, so I would be glad to answer any questions you have afterwards. Take care
raggmopp68 7 Posted April 1, 2013 I agree, the waiting to finally get the surgery is hard. The day of was no big deal, the 24 hrs following, I felt pretty yucky. I'm 3 days post-op and feeling better each day. Am looking forward to full-liquids tomorrow. broth just isn't palatable, but I'm thinking creamy chicken Soup will be as well as the Protein Shakes, I really like them...as least I did before surgery. Good luck, and I just keep thinking "Nothing tastes as good as being thin and healthy feels" 1 Mom2Stella reacted to this
