Sounds crazy but up your calories by 100-200, sometimes the body just needs a change. Make them meaningful calories, extra protien or some veggies/fruit. Don't stress over it, we all hit stalls.

What some fail to realize it the weight we have gained, happen over a course of many many many many months and years for some. WE can't think that the weight will just drop of quickly because we were given a tool to help change our lifestyle. We must learn to be patience and take it one day at a time and appreciate that 1 lb or 10 lbs weight lose. Everything take time, being frustrated and stress doesn't help anything, except to possibly give you a very unwanted ulcer and unwanted belly fat. So lets ease up on ourselves and take it one day at a time. I know your dr wants you to weight every day, but I wouldn't especially if it is contributing to your stress. He will be alright if you don't trust me on that.

My doctor told me to stop using the scale. :) Try taking photos and measuring as well. Although you aren't seeing changes in the scale, it doesn't mean change isn't happening.

I hit several of those and they are frustrating. I have been on one for over 2 months. I KNOW what you are going through. When I was at my rapid weight loss (first year), I hit several. Here are a few things that I would do to get rev up my metabolism again.

1. I would change my workout routine. Most of the time that works. Add something in, or add weight to your strength training. You can even do it in a different order. All of these will shock the body and kick it into gear again.

2. Adding food. Someone above said something about adding calories. That is a GREAT way to get the metabolism going again. Eat the extra for a week or so and then back off again.

3. Make sure you are eating often. Try not to go long periods of time without eating. Digesting burns calories, so we want our body to always feel like it has fuel and to be digesting.

4. Last, if you are like me, I work out A LOT! I found that if I would give my body a break every once in a while, I would lose a few pounds and get off that stupid plateau.

I hope this helps. The most important thing is to remember that we are human and our bodies are going to do what they are going to do. I doubt you are gaining a pound. You can retain a pound or more of Water. Don't give up!

Good luck!

K

Stalls are totally normal! Try maybe weighing once a week instead of every day for a little bit, or write down your weight every Sunday morning (pick a day) so you can see your progress more clearly. You won't see it day-to-day. You don't loose weight every day, you loose it in chunks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
