I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?

Just remember when you have to cheat we are also working on being in Ketosis for maximum weight loss. I am only 5 days out and I "cheated" today with stage 1 turkey and broth baby food with a little salt. I was so hungry and weirdly enough it was good! I tried to defend myself by saying "I know I'm only supposed to have liquids' date=' but I was told to use applesauce for my ground up Vicodin so what's the harm?" Needless to say I feel fine but I'm super paranoid there is a turkey flake stuck in my staple line...ugh! Look up Ketosis on Pubmed or anorexia and you will find thousands of publications. You are not in danger of becoming anorexic...anorexics are practically forced those calories and they don't make good choices. Think celery, iceburg lettuce and things with little nutritional value.[/quote']

Oh my. Ground up Vicodin? I do not even think the apple sauce will hide that nasty bitter taste. You are brave! :)

Here's the formula......... Before surgery: Eat wrong or too much = no ill side effects until later.. (you get fatter)

After Surgery : Eat wrong or too much = pain, damage to internal organs, pain, complications, more painful surgery, no weight loss, possible death.

Reason for surgery = refer to above "after surgery".

If there were no consequences, it wouldn't work. Scared straight is what makes it work.

I paid for it myself and they pushed me through really fast. My pre-op appointments with the psychiatrist and the nutritionist were a joke. I was so not ready for this surgery, but here I am six weeks later.

I had a hard time being on the liquids and started on purees a couple days early. I think that helped with my outrageous cravings.

It's disgusting!! I went almost a day and a half but last night I was so uncomfortable from the stupid drain and my neck from sleeping all weird. Now I just put it in some powerade-z then stick a sugar free pop in my mouth to drown the taste. I can't find sugar free liquid Tylenol here either so same deal with that. Yuk yuk yuk! :-P

I do not think you need to worry too much about the sugar content in the liquid Tylenol as it is pretty low compared to relief you are going to get from the pain. Let's see, pain versus tbsp sugar? I go for no pain because your pain will eventually go away and you can go back to pills later.

Maybe you could order the SF liquid Tylenol off of Amazon? Amazon is my virtual store for any and every thing!!

Also, talk to your doctor about prescription strength liquid hydro codeine (basically liquid Vicodin I think).

I just have been researching some information about Flector Patches (Diclofenac sticky patches). these are NSAIDs, but are applied externally so might also be something to talk to your doctor about. I want to use them to help with chronic back inflammation unrelated or not directly related to VSG ( back inflammation may have been enhanced by weight loss and the body not adjusting fast enough).

I know pain is no fun. The doctor should be able to help you out in this area so you do not have to gag down nasty bitter crushed up pain pills. :shudder:

I know they make sugar free hydro condone but it doesn't have the Tylenol in it and the hospital staff was adamant I take it all in one pill. Maybe it's their way of keeping me off it? No clue on the weird reasoning! Thanks for the tips! I actually have some diclofenac in gel form and I keep forgetting to ask about it!

You are talking about the Voltaren Gel? I just got some for when I get bad inflammation in my foot ( previous car accident, long story). I can tell when the weather is changing because my foot lights up! Does that make me a super hero with a special power? Lol! Seriously, how well does the gel work? I have not used it yet.

Yes! I had a stress fracture in my foot and that's what they gave me (200lbs and a barre class are not a good combo). I thought it worked pretty good but not as well as ibuprofen. YES, if your foot lights up you are some kind of super hero...Light Foot Man? Can find hidden items in the grass at night! :-D lol!

Don't beat yourself up too much, it is hard to change. Just keep reminding yourself on why you had the surgery, and look towards the future. What's done is done and all you can do is pick yourself up and start again trying to stay on your diet :) Good luck with everything!

I just have two more days until I get to start my pureed diet, and I'm greatly looking forward to it. I am very tempted to start early but I'm going to stick it out.

I think I know just how you must have felt.

I have some great resources for after my surgery but this is one that list calorie amounts in case anyone else had this question: http://www.ucsfhealth.org/education/dietary_guidelines_after_gastric_bypass/

Ah, more proof that the good old "I bet you didn't pay for this surgery yourself" argument is bull.

Look, this happens, it will happen in the future too, you need to get a grip on yourself though.

This WILL NOT be the last time you make a bad choice, but you need to get real about it. If you consistently make bad choices, you cheat yourself. The thing is, what matters more are the day to day choices, not the every once in a while cheats. I cheat almost once a week, but what I do consistently is more or less the right thing. I don't carry my guidelines around in my bag or anything but I do count my calories and watch the carbs/protein ratio and I suggest you do the same.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
