I'm back!! surgery went really well' date=' I'm home and doing really good. Slept for about 13 hours last night, but am so glad to be with my family.

First day out of surgery was tough, but I think it was mostly the morphine...once I stopped that silly stuff I have felt so much better.....sipping away on my fluids and working toward my first walk of the day.....

So happy to be on this side of the table!!!!![/quote']

Yeh you!

Well school started this past week and as the week went on my back hurt and hurt. Wednesday morning I got out of bed and couldn't walk. I hobbled to the bathroom to take MEDS and put on an icy/hot patch. After an hour of hobbling and sitting. I got myself dressed and off to school. I even used my cane. The fibro was in full swing as was my arthritis. I've already decided that if it gets that painful this week I'm stopping at the Spine & Joint ER care. My pain level was a 10 for most of the day unless I was sitting. On a good note, I lost 4 ponds this week! I found jeans on sale for $7 so bought what I thought I wore and they were huge! I had a 3-day weekend and slept through most it but will begin again Tomorrow.

I am so glad I found this thread. I have RA, Lupus, and Celiac Disease. I call it the trifecta of autoimmune diseases. I was diagnosed with all three about a year ago. All the RA and Lupus posts have been really helpful. But I would like to hear a little more from the people with Celiac Disease. My Celiac is so bad that I have not eaten out at a restaurant in a year because just the littlest coss-contamination can make me very sick. Has it been easier or harder to maintain gluten-free on the sleeve diet?

I was diagnosed with all of those too. Celiac Disease prepared me well for the Sleeve journey. I am used to preparing my food ahead of time. I always carried food with me just in case nothing was available for me. It has helped too that carbs are low on my list. I was Sleeved May 15 and am down over 63. Blessings!

Seeing my rheumatologist tomorrow. The fibro has me so fatigued I can barely walk down the hall at school. I eat about 800 cal a day and my mom thinks I need more food. I see my surgeon Tuesday and will ask about that. I'm just SO tired. I was sleeved June 24 and have lost 35 pounds. I lost a lot before that on high Protein ( mostly liquid) low carb. So I hit a big milestone this week...I've lost a total of 100 pounds!! I've about 50 to go. But I'm SO tired. Wish me luck that the dr has a magic cure tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your fatigue. How quickly did you lose the 100 lbs? Congratulations on that!

I started 1 1/2 years ago. I thought the weight loss would help the fibro and ostioarthritis. I had the surgery done because every time I ate regular food I would stop losing or gain again. Now with the sleeve as a tool I'm sure ill get the rest off.

I know that feeling. I know you've been tired since you went back to the school year and the kids had you all worn out. Sure hope they find a good way to get you less tired. ((Hugs))

well, the move is mostly over....Hubby is cleaning out the old house and I am catching up on laundry I thought I had all done before we moved. Had a rough week this week as I went back on my Cimzia and Methotrexate this week and it took me down for two whole days. I finally got a chance to catch up on reading the posts and am thinking of you all......

Just got back from the Rhumatologist. He doesn't think my fatigue is from the fibro. He took blood to check anemia and thyroid, ( including T3 and T4 ,gave me a steroid shot and a prescript for nouvelle. I guess it's kind of like a stimulant. Anyone heard of it? Supposedly there are little side affects. So far I'm just as tired as before the shot. Had some lunch. Will rest a bit and then go visit my folks.

As mentioned earlier in a post I was diagnosed with End Stage (4) liver disease after a gallbladder removal surgery. The primary cause was (NASH) aka non-alcoholic cirrhosis and my doctors feel that it was most likely brought on through being diagnosed with diabetes since childhood. I was recommended by my hematologist to have the gastric sleeve because it has a 98% success rate in completely stopping the progression of the NASH, however I will always have the 49% liver damage. I am currently pre-op but I have been in the works of the surgery for a while. In 2006 I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and went from 135lbs to almost 200lbs within a year. I did have a poor diet and bad habits of doing nothing but drinking coffee all day and only eating dinner at night. At that point I tried to diet and exercise and continued up to this day without success. Originally, per the request of my PCP I looked into a Gastric Bypass in 2010. I started the insurance dance performed all the requirements diet history, psych eval, other comorbid through Tricare and was denied on the first go. It was at this point I became very ill and it was discovered I had gallstones just shy of a quarter sizes blocking the bile duct and I had them and the gallbladder removed. That is when they discovered the liver damage and told me if I had gotten the surgery years ago I would have never had this problem or it was highly unlikely. However, now with an army of doctors at my back I am on my way to getting the surgery, but I wonder if at all now other than weight loss will there be a true benefit from it? Don’t get me wrong, I welcome the weight loss but I will still face an inevitable situation of liver transplant or complications later in life. I am currently just worried that since this entire if I am putting myself at even greater risk, because all surgeries are a risk and I would think especially one that is pretty much a 70% amputation of the stomach. Anyone else here ever have any difficulties with the liver? Or diabetes? I’ve heard that some have even been diabetes free from after the surgery? Is that only for type 2 diabetics? Any advice is greatly welcomed and appreciated :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
