I am having a revision in April. When I got my band I woke up on the operating table as they were finishing up and it was sooooo painful. I'm due back under the knife in 3 weeks (different surgeon) but I need reassurance this isn't common! I don't think it's happened to anyone before has it!?? It was the worst experience. I was only asleep for about 45 minutes but in the movies (haha) people wake up in comfy beds with their family around them right? Not with a surgeon looking down at you with a scalpel in hand. I keep having dreams that the same thing is going to happen! Argh!

This happened to me with a different kind of surgery. I remember saying I feel that and then passed out again....very strange lol

Not common but it does happen. My revision to sleeve will be my third surgery (band in, band out were the first two) it's never happened to me. Tell your anesthesiologist about your prior experience and how you really don't want it to happen again and they can slightly increase the doses of what they give you. May be even better if you request your operative notes from the last surgery and show it to the anesthesiologist during the consult so they can see what meds/doses didn't work for you. They'd also need your weight when you had the last procedure. Anyway, that's what I would do. Good luck.

Omg! I got sleeved 3weeks ago and that didn't happen to me. You need to tell this to your anesthesiologist and he/she will make sure it doesn't happen . I've had a couple surgeries and that has never happened. Hope everything goes well!

Haha it was my first surgery so I was like oh this must be normal! And I was so dopey my hands were getting in the way of the surgeon because I didn't know if it had happened yet or not! But my god it was sore. I had band done in India. This time I'm off to Mexico!

And definitely going to ask to be doubled up.. Or knocked out for a whole day so there is NO chance of it happening again!

The same thing happened to me with a pervious surgery. Just let the doctors know and they will give u something a little bit strong. I'm sure it won't happen this time around if u let all the doctors know. Please tell the doctors the day of your PAT appointment good luck

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
