Special underwear or belly wraps

Recommended Posts

Another ? Does anyone know if some recommend wearing a tummy tucking underwear of some kind in order to prevent the navel scar from straining and maybe to hold some of the tummy as the weight goes down and the loose skin flaps (?).

I already hate my question lol

I never used anything. It's up to you.

You just don't want anything to irritate it.

I don't even have a surgery date yet but I've been hanging on to an ad I found in a magazine, or maybe it was in one of the coupon inserts that are in Sunday's paper....can't remember, but it's called an Invisible Tummy Trimmer. It looks like a tube top you'd wear from just under your bust line to just past your waist. I have no idea how this product is. I'm not endorsing it, I'm just stating that I found this ad & I kept the paper from it thinking that I may want to wear one until I'm ready to hang free (haha)! You know how it is, some of these products are junk but it's just something I'm keeping as a sample & maybe I will look for something like this at a store to see if I can find something comparable even at a medical supply store. I'm thinking they may carry something like that for surgery patients. IDK.....but I just hate ordering anything thru the mail & then be dissappointed & have to return it (minus shipping & handling which sometimes is almost as much as the product!) Hope you find what you're looking for!

I personally did not want to we're anything binding right after surgery. It was not until the beginning of month two that I was ready for snug fitting clothing. Now At about 5 months out I do wear firm fitting underwear to hold up the extra skin.

I was fitted for an abdominal binder at my surgeon's office before surgery. Woke up in recovery with it on. Had to take it off though it didn't fit well. Going to start trying my Spanx again next week. I do at times feel like my incisions would feel better if they were supported.

I wore a compression camisole it helped hold all my jelly from giggling and it felt good to feel supported I had no issues with achy incisions

I'm pre-op, but for what it's worth, I used one after my csections. It helped with getting up and down and walking, but if I was just laying down is take it off.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
