That's really up to your belly honestly. I can eat spicy foods some days but not others.

I would not eat pretzels period. Most carbs should really be avoided. test driving what carbs your tummy will have and will not is a good way to form some bad habits.

If you want spicy, how about a virgin bloody mary, with extra spice or horseradish thrown in? A carrot/ginger/kale/cilantro/cayenne pepper smoohie has a KaRazY kick, and is really nearly addictive.

I make buffalo chicken. Great spice. 2-3tbsp of the chicken in the can, 1 teaspoon(you can increase it as tolerated/spice craving), & a tbsp of FF ranch dsg. I've had this through purée stage and now on soft foods. It's really only about 60 calories at most & it's healthy and has Protein. I found this recipe under recipe sharing tabs and it's been my absolute favorite. My tummy tolerated it fine. The actual recipe I got the idea from uses bleu cheese crumbles too. I'm not that crazy* about bleu cheese, but just a suggestion. I also started getting creative and heated up the canned chicken with a tbsp & 1/2 of plain Greek yogurt and salsa. I also melt shredded cheese with the chicken, but topping it is good too & that's flavorful and packed with protein. Your tummy could be different but I did this on the purée and now soft foods too & my stomach has tolerated them fine. Sometimes to mild the flavor I use the butter spray to mellow it out a bit. Just some ideas with spice that helped me!

Hmm no pretzel, period. Go ahead and try some hot sauce; since surgery I have been a strong convert to the hot stuff and can't get enough of it.

I think pretzels would be ok further out. My dr doesn't allow grains for the first 6 months. I'm ok with that. I plan on eating grains eventually and sparingly including pretzels but want to hold out for as long as I can even after I'm allowed. :)

As far as spicy things go, I like spicy but try not to have it be the last thing I eat in a meal or else I wanna drink sooner than the 30 minutes.

I agree... The real thing would be better. Maybe puree some chicken and add some buffalo sauce
