simplejaxgirl 135 Posted March 29, 2013 I believe you can dehydrate with a regular oven it just takes a bit longer. Google search dehydrate in oven. No extra cost :-P This appeals to me for the lower sodium content I love Jerky but the sodium is sooo high in some... RebecaSparkles 247 Posted March 30, 2013 I too looked at those machines. I think at least you'll need a Jerky gun or cookie press w/slotted nozzel. Take pics if you make!
Evolving 973 Posted March 30, 2013 It looked veryyyyy complicated ! I did find one for the microwave and that seemed better! I may have to see -- what phase would veggies dried be in??? Sent from my iPhone using VST
pammycakes 114 Posted March 30, 2013 I use and love my dehydrator! Its really old but still works. I have done strawberries, banana, pineapples, apples, mangos, baby peppers and marinated mushrooms..... and that was just this week. They are great to throw into my snack bag for work. Imabeskinny 31 Posted March 30, 2013 http://allrecipes.com/recipe/t-birds-beef-jerky/detail.aspx I make my own in the oven. It is fun to do. I get sesina from the Mexican market, marinate in teriyaki and pepper and a little bit of salt overnight. I posted a fancier recipe too. It comes out so good! erp 2,016 Posted March 30, 2013 Two suggestions: get an Excalibur. Best dehydrator around and you can buy used on craigslist / eBay. Second, be sure to stay hydrated when eating dehydrated foods. The lack of Water content means you will need to drink extra water.
