Julie* 0 Posted November 30, 2006 Hi everyone~ I need some help judging my fill level- I was filled a couple of weeks ago to 1cc and never felt at all like I had a fill. So, last Monday my surgeon brought me in to give me another fill. When he put the needle in to pull out the old Fluid there wasn't any. How does that happen? The fill was done under fluoro. Anyway, he said that he wanted to be more aggressive since the fill obviously didn't work. I was happy with that since I haven't had any fill in my band since August. Here's the problem- I do not know if I am too tight or not. I am able to drink slowly but am having problems with any kind of thicker liquid (like slimfast) or Soup. I keep sliming anything besides Clear liquids back up no matter how slowly I go. I am not supposed to even try solids until this weekend but I can't imagine I'll be able to eat if I can barely drink a thicker liquid. Even too big of a gulp of tea or Water has a hard time going down w/o gurgling. I spoke with the surgeon this morning and after I assured him that I am not dehydrated he asked me to wait a couple of days to see if I can start to chew solids slowly. If I can't then I can come in for an un-fill as soon as I want to. Now that I have given the long and drawn out description I need your insight: Have you found your fills to fill very tight and then loosen up after a few days? What steps (if any) can I take that might naturally help me heal better? (I bought aloe juice and have been sipping it at night.) Thanks so much, Julie
barbara465 2 Posted November 30, 2006 Julie it sounds like you are taking the right steps. My fills don't kick in until 6-10 later so I have the opposite problem. I just went for a fill and found that .6 had disappeared. I'm going again next week to get the heavier solution. My experience has been that once the sliming starts on liquids I can't recover from it and need to go have a little unfill. I would go in tomorrow and get one if it doesn't clear up. Some people wait it out and suffer like that for weeks in hopes that is gets looser. I personally don't believe in suffering like that or living like that. Complications come from being too tight. I'm sure others will respond to your thread and give you their experiences. All of us react differently. Hope all goes well soon.
Julie* 0 Posted November 30, 2006 Barbara~ Thanks for responding. I wish at little bit would evaporate so that it would give me the "perfect" fill. Anyone else have any insight?
ReneBean 3 Posted November 30, 2006 Everybody is different. My fills tend to be tight for about 2-3 days and then ease off with the reduction in swelling. I hope this is the case for you - but if you really can't drink a Protein shake after day four - you need to get back in and have him take a little out. hugs! Julie* 0 Posted December 1, 2006 ReneBean~ Thanks- I spoke to my surgeon late this afternoon after sliming after 1 bite of a fat free vanilla yogurt and I'm going in tomorrow for a small un-fill. Let's hope that this does the trick. Julie
CCBSTX 0 Posted December 1, 2006 You'll feel much better after a small unfill! Good luck, Shawn
