I'd be all too happy to move back to CA to be that person for you! :D Unfortunately, I live in the Detroit area now. Yuck.

I'd be surprised if you can't find an exercise buddy there. When I lived in L.A., seems that everyone I knew was into exercising!

Good luck to you!

Hey neighbor!!! I'm here in the LBC!!!! What kind of exercise are you looking to do? I'm not sure I would be the best exercise buddy b/c I'm on a pretty tight training schedule for triathlon season. But I do walk Signal Hill once a week if you are interested in that!! How far along are you in your journey?

I'm in LB. A Signal Hill walk sounds good. I have a gym at work but waking is good.

I love walking The Hill!!! I've been walking it since about 6 weeks before surgery (which was Nov 2011). I "technically" live in S.H. I just walk out my door and head up!! Sometimes I walk up Skyline 3 or 4 times...and other times, I do what I call "big loop" which is simply a long walk all the up and around the hill!!

We could start a little walking group!

I walk up ALL the different streets and trails...BUT, keep in mind, I've been doing it since before my surgery. When I first started, I could not go up Hill St or Skyline without stopping several times!!! Now I'm 115 lbs lighter, which is litterally a load off my back!!! LOL!! You have to start somewhere!!

A walking group would be fun!! I'm game!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
