Sooooo.. I know this journey was very long, emotional, and time consuming for ALOT of you. But.. For me.. It wasn't. My insurance was fairly easy to get approved.. Did all my requirements pretty fast, then had the surgery. I'm thinking I jumped in to this WAY to fast. Is this just the infamous regretful stage post OP? Or have I made a huge mistake? Oh well.. Can't go back I guess. Just starting to get depressed.

I went back and read some of your past posts. It seems like you are probably a little overwhelmed, being a mom, a wife and taking care of yourself after having surgery. You aren't feeling well, because you just had surgery, you are tired, you are healing and the thing you used to turn to has been ripped away, even if you wanted to cheat you can't right now. A few days ago you posted you were struggling getting in your fluids, are you also struggling with Protein? You need to give yourself some time, you need to make your husband realize that you need more help right now, do you have family or friends close who could help out with the kids over the weekend? just to give you a few days off? Don't regret, you can't change it now. You have to look forward and take everything step by step. As of yesterday you were down 23lbs, and 35 in total since pre op diet? You are doing amazing, your healing is a little compromised because of life, it is to be expected. You have to get yourself healthy in order to keep the rest of your family healthy. If it means leaving the dishes for a few days, the laundry for a week, or sending your husband and kids out for dinner every night then do it. You got this! You are a mom!!! You are strong, you will get through this! Your priority right now is you, get your Water in and your protein and take care of yourself.

I had a moment of regret after my one month follow up with my doctor. I was the same weight as I was on my week follow up. I felt really depressed and thought that I put my body through all this only to not have results. I'm finding more and more that it was just a moment of weekness and I needed to be more patient (not a strong quality of mine). Although I haven't lost as much as I have hoped to by now, I am seeing a difference in how my clothes fit and am physically stronger. I now know that it will take time, but as long as I stick to the plan, this will work. Hang in there and try to find the possitive in it all and don't let anyone bring you down. You can do this!

My surgery was March 18. I'm less that 2 weeks out. I've lost 35lbs since starting my 2 week pre op.

I think alot of it is stress. I started my pre op and quit smoking on the same day. Now, when I'm stressed.. What can I do? I can't smoke. I can't eat my feelings. Not saying these are necessarily bad things, but I'm sooooo overwhelmed. And I just feel lost. I feel like I'm resenting the surgery. I want to be healthy, and of course want to be shinny and dress cute and be able to play with my girls.. But 3 years from now.. I'm gonna want some birthday cake on my husbands birthday.. Or a soda.. Or whatever. Idk.. Just depressed.

I had my endoscopy done yesterday and I was very nervous about the anesthesia. It was no big deal after but I hate how I felt right before I knocked out. Now I'm having second thoughts about the surgery what if I regret it. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed because I'm feeling very stressed from work also.

Thanks for the encouragement. You're right. I need to focus on me more. I've had probably 10 grams of protein all day. liquids have been good.. But just don't like my shakes today. I don't like anything today. I don't like that I can't pick up my sweet girls, or cook dinner for my husband. I have to try harder, but I just don't want to today.

I felt the same and it's totally normal to be freaked out by the enormous change you've just made to your life. It's a big adjustment, you're not even 2 weeks out right? the first 3 weeks were EXTREMELY challenging for me. I completely freaked myself out. I had crying jags and slept maybe 2 hours in an entire day. It was awful. But I got through it and so will you. It's amazing how much progress you can make in just 3 weeks. It's going to take time to get back to yourself but you will get there. Unfortunately there is no way to speed that part up. I can't even count how many people I told that I just wish it was 5 months from now. But I'm 2 months out and way better. The addict in me still wants to eat with wild abandon but I know it's never going to be like that again. At least I don't think it can to the degree it was.

You were smart to log in and post. You are going though a lot of physical and emotional changes in a short period of time. Take it one day at a time (sorry for sounding too cliche) things will get better as you heal. In the meantime, look for support and encouragement when you need it, we are all in the same boat.

Good luck!

Ashbhey, I was told that some can get depression after surgery....maybe you should talk to a counselor or your doctor to help you through this. Hang in there! Hopefully this'll blow over and you'll start enjoying your sleeve! if you don't already exercise, maybe doing some will get the endorphins going and help make you feel better. Exercise is suppose to help with depression. I've been walking everyday and I know it's helped me a great deal that I cut my antidepressant med in half.

I just found a place called Nashua Nutrition that sells products that have Protein. I went overboard and ordered over 100 dollars worth last week. It came and I have tried about 6 different things and they are very tasty and high in Protein. From pancakes to chips and other Snacks. Do not taste like protein rich like the shakes do.

Ash, it will get a lot better. I am 4 months out and down 59 lbs. I am 66 and can not exercise. The beginning is the hardest. It gets better. And better. Best of luck.

I sat at a gourmet meal recently at which it ran through my mind how I wished had ol' stretcher belly back so more could go down my neck.

Then reasoning took over.

I looked down and saw my belt buckle rather than just assuming that it was there.

My mind went back over the many times I advised folks on this forum that consuming vast quantities was not the only way to enjoy a meal, slow chewing and savoring are more important and far less lethal to the health.

So I smiled and enjoyed life which I had victoriously made about more than food volume.

Sometimes I think we're reading from the same page of the same book!

OP I think it's ok to have a feeling of mourning about this. We've all had friendships / relationships that were bad for us and we knew we had to end it. Doesn't mean that we don't at times miss that person, and mourn the end of the relationship.

You haven't made a huge mistake. Soon you'll realise that the pros certainly outweigh the cons!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
