From what i understand from my nutritionist, we are encouraged to avoid anything that has carbonation in it.

Hope this helps you.

The sparking drinks still have the carbonation that make the sodas a no no too..

Now there are some out there that say that their doctors allow them to have sodas at a certain point out.. Not sure what your doctor thinks but mine is a absolute not.

NO, it causes gas, bloating, farts, stomach aches, and is bad on a new operation. Anything else you need to know about fizz?

IMHO.. No because regardless of what your doc/nut says.. There is absolutely nothing good in soda pop whether it's diet or not. We've already put our body through crap by being over weight and nutritionally unbalanced for gosh only knows how many years. Be smart and be good to your new you

If people knew what was in Soda diet and regular. No one would drink it. I liked Dr Pepper when I was in high school until I found out whats really in it besides sugar Water. I got my husband and kids off it but I cringe cuz I know my 13 yr old son gets it at school.

There are a lot of fantastic, supportive people on this forum. It makes me feel good coming here.

Thanks - I might just take you up on that! ;):)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
