2 week stall at about 2 1/2 months post op

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have a long stall at this time period?

Exercising (swim/eliptical) 45 mins 5x a week

Cals between 800 and 1200 as per NUT

80+ OZ Water and high Protein

Have been losing at a pretty darn good clip till now. Kind of depressing as even with WW I would average over 2 lbs a week

Wondering if the 600cals post op really screwed up my metabolism

Love to hear from others who had a stall at this time and what they did about it

I am 2 1/2 months out as well and also in a stall.

I am getting in around 700-800 calories a day and around 70-80 grams of protien. Water not too good maybe 30 ounces on a good day.

I figured i am adding more Water and joined the gym yesterday. Hopefully this will catapult me out of my 2 week stall!

Good Luck!

This is very normal. The key is 60-80 grams of Protein daily, eat carbs because they give your body energy, drink Water and exercise. When you add excercise to the mix it confuses the body even more and it needs some time to catch up. Trust me it will catch up. I was in a 3 week stall at 35lbs...happy to say i am now at 50lbs, joined a gym...confused my body but when it caught up it caught up fast!! Dont stress it keep going and the weight will come off. By the way...GREAT job!! Dont forget to Celebrate your success!!

I am currently in my 4th stall since surgery and I am just shy of 10 weeks. I have come to the realization that this is how I am going to lose. I hit a new low, stall for a few days, watch the weight bounce up and down for about a week and then hit a new all time low... usually about 3-4lbs less.

It will be 5 weeks on Wednesday 5 April. At my two week post op I had lost 18 pounds this include my 11 days opti-fast that was required. I have not lost anything since. It will be three weeks since that weigh in 6 days. Im really trying to stay off the scale because I know it will past but its hard.

I eat 750-950 calories, 100g+ Protein, 100oz+ Water and 50g carbs. I consume the majority of those carbs during my post workout.

I was walking a week out and started going to the gym at 3 weeks. Up until last week I was lifting 5-6days a week and doing cardio 7 days a week. I don't really like cardio so I do 20mins HIIT cardio after my workout.

This week I have changed my routine though to 3 days on, 1 day off.

day 1- Chest, triceps, shoulders, 20min HIIT

day 2- Back, biceps, traps, 20min HIIT

day 3- legs, 20min HIIT

day 4- rest, Might do cardio, depends on how I feel.

I do abs and calfs every other day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
