I went back to my doctor today because I just keep having this terrible pain in my left side. She said it's common and that lots of people have it. She prescribed me ibuprofen but I have to get it at a compounding pharmacy because of the strength needed in liquid...so I don't have it yet. She said she believes an anti inflammatory like that will help reduce my pain. I haven't slept a full night since the surgery. I just hurt all the time and the lortab doesn't make it go away and that stuff just makes me more constipated.

When will I feel ok again? How long does the recovery take?

I also keep having nausea. She gave me a new RX to refill my Zofran but my insurance won't pay for it yet....and it's $500 out of pocket to fill it on my own.

I just want to stop hurting. I'm not hungry at all but I'm getting the bottom level number of Protein grams I need and I am staying hydrated. I just need to feel better.

It's this pain in my left side that is driving me crazy! I'm 15 days out, how long will it take to go away?

The good news is that I've already lost 19.5 lbs and 2 inches in my waist measurement...

Thanks for any support and advice!

Do you still have ur Gallbalder? I had Mine removed 3 1/2 weeks post op, because of the Sleeve. Had the same signs as you and the Major pain took them 3 weeks to check my gallbalder, just a thought....Good Luck.

Have you tried putting a heating pad on your belly? I had horrible left side pain, and that was the only thing that helps. I was almost 3 weeks out when I woke up one morning and realized that pain gone. Good luck, hang in there.

I am surprised you are going to take ibuprofen. I thought NSAIDS were a no no after the surgery. I am seven weeks out and could use some for arthritis:). I was hurting on my left side too. My surgeon gave me ten mg of percocet that REALLY helped. As another poster said, the pain left after about three weeks. The surgeon said the left incision was the larger one and where they removed the stomach. You might want to try some over the counter antacid like Nexium--- of course only if okd by your Doc. Good Luck! You will feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
