Yoli3925 67 Posted March 28, 2013 I have a ton of "what ifs" running through my head and they will probably continue right up until they wheel me into the operating room. What gets me through these moments is the realization that I'm doing the best thing for my health. I'm just taking one day at a time and trusting Lord God will see me through. I wish you the best. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
No game 14,437 Posted March 28, 2013 What ifs can drive you crazy! That being said, a lot of us had those thoughts... But what if I didn't do it and died of a massive heart attack... 3 Suazo91, ProudGrammy and ShouldBlittler reacted to this
johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 28, 2013 What if you stay the way you are, and drop dead from a heart attack, or get diabetes and they cut your feet off or you go blind, or you have a stroke? Relax, if you follow you Drs. plan, take it one day at a time, keep the expectations low and patience high. You'll be fine. 2 ProudGrammy and taurabird reacted to this
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted March 28, 2013 I had those same thoughts before surgery, and I continue to have some of them (what if I'm not successful?) after surgery. I think it's normal. We all have to know our risk tolerance. Once you decide that, you'll be comfortable with your decision. 2 ProudGrammy and Yoli3925 reacted to this

When I first "remember" waking up I heard the anesthesiologist telling me if you keep fighting we are going to have to call the psych person!?! what the what??? I guess I don't like waking up from surgery either 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

missmeow 156 Posted March 28, 2013 All I remember about waking up was groaning "pain" and saying it one more time before being sent to lalaland. When I was really awake, I remember being wheeled to my room and getting settled. It wasn't too bad. I asked if i could put on some underwear, which I guess was really funny to my parents. Apparently I was high as a kite. I, however, remember being perfectly rational In other words, don't worry about it. You'll be pretty out of it.
mom of 5 5 Posted April 1, 2013 Ohhhh, this is sooo me! I am petrified about having this surgery. I've had a hysterectomy, then 2 months later went back to have my ovaries removed, and had ankle surgery and had to be off for a few weeks. I never ever thought anything about blood clots! Are the risk the same of getting blood clots with those surgeries as this one? I've sure thought about not having it, but I know I will gain, and lose, and gain more if I don't have it. Can someone ease my nerves?! I'm scheduled for April 18.
