Recommended Posts

I am on my last class for Cigna, and was now told today by the Dr office I can not make an appointment with a dietician until a month after my last class is finished? Has anyone had this trouble?

I had to have 4 appointments with the nut. My last one is 4/22 and then they will submit. The waiting is hard, when I started it was only 3 appointments. Hopefully my approval goes fast but from what I have read here I am worried

I have Cigna too and they told me 6 months. I'm tired of all the red tape and considering self pay.

If you go online. They claim to only need three months medically supervised diet. Do y'all know if u have to see nutrientist or can your primary doctor do the diet?

Different companies opt for different coverage and restrictions. I had my appointment with the nut that works out do my WLS surgeons office. Insurance did not pay.

Cigna has been paying for my nut visits. She is on their list of approved providers. I would start there.

I have Cigna. The required the following: 3 nutrition visits once per month...had to be once a month..no more. No less. The required one psych eval, 1 cardiologist visit and an upper GI. Also my last 2years of weights from my primary and a note from my primary. My bmi when I started was 35. So I also needed another factor. So I did the sleep apneA test which I knew would b positive. They denied me at first button doctors office helped get it approved. Took a year from start to finish. I get sleeved in 2wks. Hope this helps

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
