Two weeks post op and eating nearly the "maximum"

Recommended Posts

At two weeks out I could eat about 2 tsp I am now four weeks out and now I eat about 4tsp that takes about 20 min to do. My dr told me he was able to make my sleeve very small because my stomach was very thin and soft but overtime it my stretch a little which I wouldn't mind because now it takes me forever to get my liquids in and food! I just hope it doesn't very much. I'm sure your still eating a fraction of what u ate before and if you make good choices like it sounds you'll lose the weight you want!

at 3 days post op I had two cups of broth in one sitting and could have gone on for infinity if it was not for the sodium content.. Anything Fluid just runs straight through my sleeve... which is a good thing' date=' no dehydration for me![/quote']

Remember that liquids and solids behave differently in your sleeve. On an empty healed sleeve liquids basically pass right through the sleeve past the pyloris and into the intestine. That's why you can drink far more volume than you can eat. solid food however sits in the sleeve waiting to be digested.

This is also why you shouldn't eat and drink at the same time. Imagine a sink with a food catcher. When the food catcher is empty, Water passes right through it. When food is trapped in the food catcher, Water starts to back up in the sink. Liquids backing up in the sleeve can cause stretching, overflow or even damage.

Don't worry about how much you can fit in your sleeve. Focus on your diet and the sleeve will help and support you.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and have been able to eat most anything that I've tried. I can't eat much. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 cup of whatever it may be. I'm also noticing that as time goes by I get full much easier. I'm getting maybe 600 calories a day.

I am progressing my diet as I see fit. There's a lot of foods that I want but think it may be too soon to have them, so I wait.

Don't you just love all the "well-wishers" that inform you that you will hurt your sleeve, you will ultimately fail if you don't do (fill in blank) in just the order they think is best, and ask how you could even think of eating ( another fill in the blank) at this stage?

Please post pics of your medical license people.

I've lost 21 lbs in 19 days and I'll continue to eat what I see fit when I see fit to do it. I'm still very early on and having no problems other then itchy incisions that I suppose will heal fully any day now. I say eat what you can easily tolerate, eat until you are full then quit, and be happy if someone else can eat a bit more than they anticipated. Personally, I just want a burrito.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
