STUCK in a RUT between thin & not fat enough

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I've had a look. I think digestives are pretty close, although they look a little thicker.

So do you sandwich up the marshmallows and some chocolate, wrap it in foil and put it in the coals?

......... I can't believe I'm looking forward to something that in reality, I'll probably have one bite of!

Can't believe we are talking about junk food recipes on here... But it's in the spirt of sharing our great (fat) American culture with the Aussies :P

Just copied this recipe...

To make a perfect smore, first take a square-shaped graham cracker. Our family enjoys Honey Maid graham crackers, but even store brand will do. Then, you will need a square of chocolate on top of the graham cracker. We use Hershey's chocolate, but any chocolate will do. I especially like Hershey's Special Dark chocolate on my s'mores. Next, you roast a marshmallow over an open fire. To roast the perfect marshmallow, the sugar should caramelize without burning. I take a stick or metal skewer and hold the marshmallow on the stick about 2 inches above the fire, turning it frequently until it is a caramel brown color without burning. Although, some people do enjoy it when their marshmallow catches fire and creates a black crust on the outside of the marshmallow. Then, when the marshmallow is nice and hot, you are ready to press it between two graham crackers. You remove the marshmallow with the top graham cracker, using it to slide the marshmallow off the stick. Finally, press the marshmallow on top of the chocolate with the graham cracker you used to slide the marshmallow off the roasting stick. The heat from the marshmallow will melt the chocolate. When pressed together, it makes a 'sandwich' of sorts, with the layers being: Honey Maid graham cracker, Hershey's chocolate square, roasted marshmallow, then another graham cracker.

Maybe its for the best that she left. Maybe she will find a forum more suited to her and they can stroke her ego. Its akin to her saying Im prettier than you. You can win friends and influence people by calling others Fatties. And alsoadding if you have nothing to add move along. Its just plain rude. I had many people say Im not big enough for surgery and I told them all Im big enuff. They were trying to be nice I mean who knows what to say? I was 240 when in early Dec 12 I found out I was approved. During tbat time before surgery I ate up to 247, stupid I know! We are all on here to support each other regardless if we are 200 or 600 we have the same struggles. I was scared to death of dying to table and so many women and men here calmed myfears, Im forever grateful!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
