Gburto3 15 Posted March 27, 2013 Hello. My name is Greg and I had my VSG on March 15 (so I am in week two.) I had a lot of pain during the 1st few days and I know this is normal. After week one I was actually feeling really great about everything, and then when I woke up yesterday (Tuesday 3/26) I felt terrible. I have had this constant, painful, burning diarrhea that will not stop. Also, when I try to eat something like pudding I just start feeling sick. This could be dumping syndrome, but I'm not 100% sure. I know this is going to get better, but I hate how I have been feeling this week. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I am glad that I found this sight. Thank you!
Irene1970 8 Posted March 27, 2013 I don't think that's normal contact your doctor would be my recommendation. That diarrhea could dehydrate you and quick. I'll be praying for you. 2 Tamiz67 and Yoli3925 reacted to this
Newme48 104 Posted March 27, 2013 Yes I agree I would call your surgeon. Better safe than sorry. Good luck to you!
Gburto3 15 Posted March 27, 2013 So just as an FYI to everyone. Turns out the Iron i was taking was basically making my stomach inflamed along with my intestines. Also, taking tums (with Calcium carbonate) is really bad for your GI tract. Your stomach cannot process this. My doc/surgeon said that all was well, no leaks or anything, just A LOT of inflammation. Thank you all for your feedback 1 rollargirl reacted to this

butterfly_gal 151 Posted March 27, 2013 Glad to hear you figured it out. What Iron are you taking? This scares me because I am supposed to start back up on my 150mg iron pill for anemia tomorrow, but I sure don't want to be sick
Patienlywtng on my Curves 73 Posted March 28, 2013 I am anemic, but have been advised that Iron is a no-no by my Surgeon. Greag, I'm glad you were able to get a response quickly.

This scares me because I am supposed to start back up on my 150mg iron pill for anemia tomorrow, but I sure don't want to be sick Sorry it took me a day or two to get back to this post. I really have just been sick and not feeling well. Today I am finally able to get out of bed and do something. It was a GNC brand Called Gentlesorb Iron. I am now on a chewable Iron from my doctors office that has been working great for me. I wish you luck =]
Yaya 81 Posted March 31, 2013 Calcium should be calcium citrate, not calcium carbonate. It is absorbed more easily, and easier on the stomach.

I wish you luck =] Thank you. I have to call my Dr. tomorrow because I started taking my iron pill again on Thursday night and within an hour had horrible cramping and the runs. I took it for two nights, both nights same thing. I stopped taking it as of Saturday. They are going to have to give me something else, that is for sure. I am glad you're doing better
Poolguard 55 Posted April 1, 2013 Some Multi Vitamins have enough Iron in them that you do not need a iron pill.
