I am 3 months post op today and no issues. However, I just laid down for bed & very suddenly got this horrible pain. It started mid back then radiated around my right side under my breast area. I haven't had heartburn today- could it still be that? Could it be gas? I just got up and took some gas-x so seeing if that helps. It felt almost like when you eat too much and it gets stuck- but I haven't eaten for a few hours. Very odd...

When it happened I would say the pain was a 9, now it's seems to be gone but my lower right side is hurting like towards my pelvic area.

Could be a kidney stone that moved lower or gallbladder attack. Go for an ultrasound of the gallbladder, kidneys and ureters.

It's possible that it's your sciatic nerve. It's an oddity that happens to quite a lot of us who have lost weight and either carry ourselves differently, walk, sleep or stand differently from what our norm us to be.

Mine was lower right back and then around to my front to where I thought maybe I had a gall bladder trouble. It was also a 9 on the pain scale. It wouldn't go away and got so bad I went to the ER and they gave me a muscle relaxant and I was better. it happened again a month later and luckily the doc had sent me home with an extra pill.

Search hip back pain and you may find more on the forum

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
