Did you know that we aren't supposed to eat celery? supposedly, it's too stringy for the sleeve.

Someone posted on here before that they had to have it removed with a scope because the strings balled up and she could not digest it. I eat it if it's chopped up in little pieces in salad type stuff.

No I didn't...just in the beginning I thought. My nut said it was fine. I'll ask my surgeon next check-up.

Ugh...cottage cheese. I had a 20 day preop consisting of Protein Drinks and cottage cheese. I want to gag thinking about it. Not sure I will ever eat it again! Lol

My morning Protein hot cocoa doesn't seem to keep the morning hunger at bay any more, and though I miss it, I think I'm better off with something more solid - usually a hard boiled egg and maybe a little low fat cheese. You can get a lot of satisfaction for the same number of calories. But I do still occasionally have one when I'm on the go, and I've noticed that the premier ready-to-drink shakes fill me up a lot more than my Unjury. A little online investigating suggests it's because they're a combination of Proteins, including casein, not just whey. I wonder if a casein-based product might work better for me.

I generally avoid yogurt, and to some extent cottage cheese for the same reason. Somethink like chicken breast or eggs fills me up much faster.

Dang it - the last week or two I have been HUNGRY. I am really working on accepting it and not overeating... but DANG.

I do like that I enjoy food again. Long gone are the days of just forgetting to eat or feeling like it is a chore. I can eat at restaurants etc, fairly petite portions but more like a chick that is watching her weight then a post WLS patient. i am careful, I don't eat junky fast food and I treat myself to food that is both yummy and healthy and high Protein... but... it is getting harder.

Same here. It has never been a chore for me to eat since surgery. I have been super hungry and have been eating a lot lately (albeit high Protein foods but still...). It starts around 3:00... So frustrating.

Hunger continues to be my nemesis!!!

I just keep eating a lot of clean solid Protein to satisfy it. I know carbs food is going to feed the hunger and make it stronger, so I do not go there. A chicken sausage or a baby bel helps keep it at bay. As long as my extra eating does not result in weight gain, I will do it. I should start tracking it though as to not break any hard calories boundaries I have set for myself. It is a little strange as to where the hunger feeling comes from. It is not from the stomach, but in the back of my throat. Maybe it is caused by salivation at the back of my mouth, top of throat. No idea. What are your thoughts?

I feel true, physical hunger from my stomach.

I think this is the normal progression of things, I really do, it is just that it was so nice to not really feel much hunger (as long as I stayed low carb). I do think that I have been allowing myself more carbs as part of maintainance so that is probably contributing to it. I am gearing up for a surgery in a month and they are pushing "eating enough" and building up.

My weight maintenance is spot on, so far so good... but... i wish i wasn't hungry. :)

So, in summary - I think we all need to accept that this is the normal progression... a return to hunger. MANY real world, normal people live with this to keep a trim waistline.

I have decided that my new (ironic) motto is:

I remember what skinny feels like... HUNGRY!!!

Hunger sucks. I really hoped surgery would just take it all away! I feel very normal now, which is good, but it's hard realizing I'll continue to have a lifelong battle with food.< /p>

Nuts are a total slider food for me...I swear I can eat the same amount now as before surgery. I'm 8 months out or so' date=' and pretty much at goal, and my hunger has been a little out of control lately. It's the damn trigger foods. Once again I need to cut out the carbs/sugar.

My Snacks are celery and pb or laughing cow cheese, Greek yogurt, boiled eggs (I'm lazy and buy them perfectly boiled and packaged at Costco), string cheese, lunch meat...all already mentioned.

I just made cottage cheese "rice pudding" that is pretty good. I have a couple bites when hunger strikes.[/quote']

Rice pudding?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
