diva1 29 Posted March 27, 2013 Hey anyone worked with the Kane Center in Illinois? What are your thoughts about this facility? I'm just starting the process, any tips or things I should know. I'm waiting for insurance approval and working with Dr. Kane.
lilmely08 27 Posted April 20, 2013 I am glad to see that someone is from IL using the Kane Center I had surgery March 29. Dr Rantis did my surgery from the Kane center...I love that group! Everyone is wonderful, it's a great group, and I heard they truly care about you (at least my doctor did). All the doctors that went to see me during my hospital stay were great (the Kane center works with a great group at the hospital as well) DO IT!! Pick the Kane center...I'm sure you won't regret it...I didn't. I'm 3 wk post op (yesterday) and I feel great!! Where are you from in the IL area??
diva1 29 Posted April 21, 2013 Hey, I live in Lombard. I plan to schedule for late May early June. I have finished all requirements and just had my pre op nutrition group class. I have Dr.Kane. Hey how was the drain for you, I just heard about that at the class. A nurse from the unit at the hospital gave us an orientation at the dietary session. lilmely08 27 Posted April 21, 2013 I'm from Elgin . It's nice to finally know that someone is from the area . I honestly didn't need a drain nor a catheter placed...they did Intubate me as they do for all surgeries. Dr. Rantis told my family that he wished he would've used me as a demo because everything looked perfect & it went so smooth. I stayed in the hospital (alexian medical center) for 2.5 days. Sheri the nurse is great (from post surgical unit) as well as Annie and ray PCT. they will treat you will so much respect and Sheri was the only one that explained everything well and seemed that she truly cared (not just run out of your room). Is that will you be having your surgery done? I'm 3 wks post op and I truly feel GREAT...no complications at all nor bad experiences... I am still a little sore from the site where they took my stomach out of but that's normal since tissue and muscle is still healing. Keep me updated if u have any questions feel free to ask. diva1 29 Posted April 28, 2013 Hi Debs, Huntley would be very far as I'm having my surgery in elk grove village. The Kane Center came highly recommend. There was lots of positive feedback on the vs talk site and other websites. I began my search with only bcbs centers of distinction excellence in bariatric surgery. makemyownluck 785 Posted April 29, 2013 I've heard many good things about Alexian. I am going to Rush University in downtown Chicago, my surgery is Thursday. So far, they have been awesome. Definitely great to see some locals on the site! I'm in Aurora. Best of luck, I personally know 4 people who've had surgery and they all had it at Alexian. No complaints from any of them! etc. etc. etc. 440 Posted August 28, 2017 I had Dr. Rantis as well. His group is terrific and very organized. They're organized enough that everything sort of rolls along. The way they do things requires you to pay attention, do your part, and stay organized, but they're very nice and they have your back. As for the surgery itself, I was out of the hospital the day after surgery, I was able to go back to my office job the very next Tuesday, and eight days in, my wounds are almost totally healed. No major side effects, minimum pain, really quick rebound. Dr. Rantis knows his stuff.
