One day post op question

Recommended Posts

I am one day post op and I am easily sipping Water and I finished an entire Protein Shake in 30 minutes with no problem. Is this normal? I am so afraid this is not going to work :(

Sounds with in the range of "normal" to me. Everyone's body is a little different, so we all tolerate things differently. Just be sure to take it slowly as your ease at drinking could become difficult any time. Hopefully you are just one of the lucky ones who have no problems with the fluids!!

Well, if it doesn't at least you will have company. I am in the same boat and can drink like a champ. Now that being said, I don't chug (I tried it once and I could feel a small bit of pressure) but can drink very smoothly with no pauses. I think everyone's a bit different out of the gate and I have seen many past posts where people started off like this but did run into more restriction when actual food was introduced. I wouldn't worry too much just yet!

3/19 so I am a few days further out than you but I've been steady with my drinking since the day after surgery.

I am going to try not to worry!! But I sure hope this sleeve will work!! I am a lapband to sleeve revision and the lapband failed me so I am once bitten twice shy!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
