How often do you weigh yourself

Everyday... but I try not to trip out on it as long as its going in the right direction :)

Oh,I'm also the type to shake the presents under the Christmas tree :P

I actually lift up the bows and peek at the box.

I weigh every day :(

It use to be everyday but that was driving me crazy so its once a week now.

I weigh myself daily as well but I dont freak out when it doesnt move nor if it is up a little because history has proven to me that my weight is on the way down! BUT I had to prepare myself mentally for months to know that this is what to expect. (And I try to weigh myself at the same time each day with no clothes on. I also record each weight and this shows me patterns etc. It helps me)

I weigh myself everyday if I don't I go crazy. I am on vacation for a few days and my scale is at home it is driving me crazy that i can't weight myself. I told my husband I needed to pack the scale he just looked at me.

I weigh everyday naked and after a poop. Lol. I think it's a double edged sword as it can help check me into eating healthier because it creeps but its discouraging when it doesn't move in 12hours (how dare you, sir!!!). I'm going to try measuring instead because I've been working out a lot I got to see some results!

I weigh once a week. Its like a weekly treat. I'm learning not to have a numerical expectation and to just be excited with any loss.

I weigh every morning. I only record losses. If I go up a few pounds I psych myself out to work to get them off again.

You really have a nice weight loss record month over month. What do you attribute your success to the most?

I stick to low cal low carb MOST days. When I keep my carbs low the weight comes off. When I don't watch my carbs I don't lose. I love the sleeve. I could have never maintained this type of diet/ lifestyle without it.

Great feedback. Do you also exercise daily or how any times a week.

My diet is also low carb, low fat, 1200 calories a day. I know that low carb works for a lot of VSG folks, but it is hard to define exactly what low carb means. My definition of low carb now at 8.5 months, where I eat good carbs from veggies, energy squares and Protein bars, is different from my definition of low carb in the first six months, where I stuck to no extra carbs unless it was "built into" the Protein portion (tended to put me around 10-30 carb daily). I had some good losses for first few months ( 45, 45 and 15). Then I lost an average of 15 lb for next 4 months and hit my goal. I think eating low carb, high protein and low fat really helped in the first 6 months. Low carb is certainly not everyone's style. I found much more energy once I started eating some good carbs. In turn, this allowed me to exercise harder which in turn gave me more energy. A good feedback loop to be in. Everyone should try low carb style if they find losing to be slow.

So would fruit be a bad carb?;0/ I know it has a lot of carbs. What is a typical dinner for you at this diet? I think I think I'm eating low carb bc in not eating bread then I track my calories and I'm shocked w the carbs in some meals.

I agree with everything you said Fiddleman. My low carb is 70g or less. Anything over 150 I stall. I find it difficult to add good carbs like fruit without going overboard! So when it came time to add more calories I turned to fat instead in the form if nuts. I eat 1-2 servings of almonds or cashews daily. I exercise 3-4 times per week, I focus on getting my heart rate between 130-150 bpm for 35 minutes for optimal fat burning and then I do some toning and strength training for 15-20 minutes. Ok, now I'm going to not hijack this thread anymore!

Really depends on the type of fruit you are eating. Fruit that is higher in Fiber will tend to allow sugar to be absorbed at a more slower pace. Sort of like Tylenol extended release versus Tylenol rapid release. These are fruits like berries, cherries, apples, pears, apricots, figs and grapefruit. Fruits you will want to stay away from include melons, mangos, papayas and pineapples. My favorite fruit includes apples and berries so I am glad to see them in the good carb list. How about you? Trying also not to hijack this thread. Hope that people see the relationship between scale weighing and low carb diet.

Nihari I want more of your routine! Hijack away! I fid everyone has something to offer. Fiddle man thanks for the breakdown. I love all fruits and always have. I used to eat mass quantities but now can only finish half an apple. I love watermelon and pineapple and mango. Darn it. I will try sticking to apples and berries for a bit and splurge on watermelon in the summer. Do you think eating cheese as a snack is too much fat? I really need to kick this stall. I've lost 40pounds in 3months. That includes my preop weight loss of 14lbs. Come on, that's kinda slow. I am determined to find my sweet spot for losing.
