bobaloo11 1 Posted March 26, 2013 I'm 4 weeks post op and I've been having some stomach discomfort. I can only describe it as a gnawing feeling that you'd get when VERY hungry or if you were to take a medication that needed to be taken with food and didn't eat. I guess it's like a mild nausea. I've tried 4oz of low sugar yogurt, that didn't seem to matter either way. A few minutes later I would feel the same thing. During the day it is annoyiing but at night it's hard to get to sleep because of it. Drinking Water sometimes will aggrivate it. I cant tell if I'm hungry because my stomach is always gurgling or bubbling or making some new noise. I was wondering if any of this is just normal. I have a "one month" appointment comming next week so I can ask my Dr. then but figured I'd try here first.
Sleevedintx 39 Posted March 26, 2013 Could be acid reflux are you taking anything for it. Acid reflux will mimic hunger.
FeeIsMe2 508 Posted March 26, 2013 I agree with Mrs Whitty.. it sounds like acid reflux.
bobaloo11 1 Posted March 26, 2013 Yes, I have been taking Prilosec for years. This does not feel like the reflux I used to have though. That was a definite burn in my esophogus... like heartburn.

UPRR Wifey 89 Posted March 27, 2013 When my stomach feels like that I am usually in need of food. I know the difference when it's gas or indigestion.
bobaloo11 1 Posted March 27, 2013 But eating doesnt help usually. Who would have thought that I would ever wonder if I was hungry or not! The answer was easy before... hungry all the time!

I'm searching through different threads to try and find an answer but I haven't found any yet. I'm trying so hard to stay below 800 calories but I'm starving! Im not starving feeling when I wake up and whatnot. Give it a try! Plus u have to think.. what are you eating throughout the day also?? I usually am eating chicken breast strips.. lunch meat.. eggs.. and add cheese to everything haha.
MrsG 329 Posted March 28, 2013 I had the same feelings of hunger all the time! I was taking protonix and my stomach would still grumble. I would eat every few hours, all Protein to try to fill me up and last longer. I have to say now at 10 weeks out the hunger pains have lessened quite a bit. In the last few weeks I eat and I'm not even hungry. I know lots of ppl didnt feel hunger for the first few months, but I was the opposite. I know they make other proton inhibitors, maybe trying a different one would help? I'm not sure but for me it was just a waiting thing and it got better over time.
