findjoy13 30 Posted March 25, 2013 Have anyone one of you, been diagnosed with a fatty liver? I read that rapid weight loss makes it worse. Having surgery at the end of April and just worried about this whole fatty liver thing! Also has a fatty liver ever caused a surgery to be cancelled? Any insight would be wonderful!! pandabear 39 Posted March 25, 2013 I have been diagnosed with a fatty liver, well, fat deposits or something like that. I was told that losing weight makes it better. 1 findjoy13 reacted to this
Takingcontrol 467 Posted March 25, 2013 Most overweight people have fatty livers. That's why some drs insist on pre-op diets...others adjust their operating tech to ensure the liver is out of the way. 1 findjoy13 reacted to this
justpete 1 Posted March 25, 2013 fatty liver is one of he reasons someone might do this type of surgery, so i'm sure it wont stop you. I have autoimmune liver disease so i'm followed closely by a specialist. He told me that after surgery i will have to be followed closely after surgery because in some patients, fatty liver does develop (of increase) in teh period after surgery. I guess the fat is being metabolised in the liver instead of sugars so it may take a while to adjust to it. a careful watch of LFT on your blood results is the fix. 1 findjoy13 reacted to this
