6 Weeks Post Op, Come on Doc!

Recommended Posts

So I am 6 weeks post op today and started having serious abdominal pain that was radiating pain to my chest and back. I am

Very nauseous and started vomiting yellow bile because I can't eat anything. I went to the ER last night and everything checked out fine. They gave me a shot of Levsin to reduce the spasms in my stomach. I was fine when I went home but I guess being doped up with Dilaudid helps with that. They sent me home and diagnosed me with "unknown abdominal pain". I woke up at 6am and it was all back! Yay, but lets add yellow diarrhea to the description. I called my sleeve doctor and he made me drive an 1hr 1/2 to see him at there Emergency room. So I get to start this all over once again. I just wanted to vent..Ugh.

Well things are getting worse. I am now NPO since Last night. I can't eat or drink.. They are confused at this point. They thought it was one thing but it seems to be 10 others. I can't stop

Vomiting or having diarrhea which is crazy since I haven't eaten since Sunday. They have to keep me doped up.. Ugh, I just want them to fix this. Fingers crossed that they find what else is wrong.

Thanks ladies, they had to post pone my upper GI because of how bad I reacted to the radioactive contrast from the HIDA. I hope they find the issue in the morning. I will be sure to keep you all updated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
