Calling all April 4 2013 Sleevers or close enough

Recommended Posts

Hi

Tania here, have Sleeve booked in for April 4 & would like to start a thread with others starting the same journey around that time.

Was booked for Band however after further research have switched to the Sleeve. Seems like less maintenance ( fills , visits etc) and a more normal or natural outcome, just me , well hopefully less of me, just with a smaller stomach. No foreign bits inside me, and too be honest food getting 'stuck' with the band doesn't appeal.

Recovery & healing is what I am most anxious about, I see the chat on here as well about the possible grief post op of losing a good chunk of a body part & I understand that. Reminds me to book in for regular shrink sessions to help me with the change & adjustment.

Love to hear from you

Tania

My sleeve is scheduled for April 6th. After a 6 month wait, I'm getting excited for this to finally happen.

I decided to get the sleeve because my weight has been steadily creeping up for years. It wasn't so bad in high school and college, but with age and working in a cubicle i've just been gaining too much weight. 3 years ago, I found out I had a heart problem (not related to my weight) and had to get a mechianical valve installed. Now I'm stuck with heart problems for the rest of my life. Excerising is difficult because of my heart issues so I finally decided to do the surgery as a means of losing weight and to help relieve some stress on my heart.

I go in for my pre-op appointment this Thursday March 28th. Glad you posted this thread because it will be nice to talk to others having surgery around the same time as myself.

Hi all

Welcome on board, not long to go now & look forward to sharing & supporting each other as April 2013 Sleevers. Theoretically I read this site the more confident o am with my decision & it seems preparation is the key to a smooth recovery, what have observed so far from those Sleevers gone before us:

Stock up fridge , freezer , cupboard with liquids of choice e.g tea, Protein Shakes & drinks, yoghurt , ice blocks to suck, probiotic drinks

Laxative & Clear Liquids 3 days before Op to clear out bowel & stomach & help reduce Constipation

Sip sip sip only & walk as much as possible to help blood flow & recovery

Keep up Protein to help recovery

Sounds like it takes around 6 weeks for stomach to heal , be gentle on ourselves to avoid leaking or over doing it

Around 3 months to eating normal foods, solids with testing along the way

Around 6 months to be back to ourselves , and hopefully less of ourselves, with a smaller stomachs really settled in

Don't drink when eating , seems to take longer to feel full as the liquid pushes the food through the stomach

What you guys learnt from his site do far? Great resource isn't it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.
