This thread is getting a little old but I just found it. I had my surgery with Dr Folek 4 days ago. I think I saw you at the support group meeting last week. How are things going? Where are you in the process?

yes I was there and remember you :). Things are moving along smoothly I just got a call today to come in August and have a EDD done and then I got a call to see a hematologist as well. My last appointment with Erin is the 26th of November. Do you remember if you knock you out during your endoscopy or did you even have one?

I think they require an endoscopy of everyone getting a sleeve or bypass. You are not put under general anesthesia, but you are given Verced and Fentanyl which sedates you and means you don't remember anything. I didn't feel anything at all. The worst part was getting the IV. I was really tired and kinda loopy for the rest of the day. Don't plan to do anything important. :-)

i have OHP plus which is trillium. I hear they are easy to work with but they have a extra hoop..not sure if you had to do it but I had to take a drug test at the beginning so they would cover everything. That included a nicotine test. It set me back a week cause the weekend before my appointment I had tried a little bit of my bfs cigar (not a smoker) so I waited till it was out of my system. Would have been nice if someone told me my insurance required that lol.

Hi! I know the original post is a bit old, but I'm in EUGENE and I'm having my first appointment with Dr. Folek on 1/14. It's only been a few weeks since I went to the orientation, so I've not been do a support group meeting yet. Anyway, I would love to connect with other Sleeve folks in the area. :)

I'm doing great. My first night was rough but after that I was doing good. Was released from hospital yesterday and now just trying to get my Protein and fluids in and walking.

First night was really rough, but after that getting out of bed was easier and easier... I have a lot of built up gas.... (TMI). It's the gas they use during the sleeve procedure and natural one. I actually had surgery on the Monday the 13th. Trying to get as much liquid and Protein down now!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
