My poem about weight loss..wanted to share!

Recommended Posts

Ok, I am an amature writer, so I am going to share this poem I wrote this morning! Hope you all like it!

Disrobed...

A fool's security blanket,

once draped across my body.

Unhealthy, unhappy, and feeling unbeautiful.

A mask of my own making, of my own destruction.

Each pound weighing the body and the soul.

Freeing as it falls away.

A new choice, a new life.

Beginning a new journey.

My body no longer my enemy,

this is a war I will win.

And here I stand, emotions raw---

disrobed and no longer ashamed.

Beautiful Brandy---made me tear up.....it says it like it is.

Methinks you will not be amatuer for long---you capture a feeling with words, and that takes talent.

Have anymore? But maybe you should wait until they can't be stolen and claimed by another someone out in cyber space....no one here on LBT!!!

Yay, I love writing poems too, mine are cheezy, but I like to put my feelins down in poetry.....Here is one that I wrote about getting the lap-band (you have to know that my family is against it, and I have stopped telling people about it, my DH is the only one who knows how far I have come to getting the surgery)

My new life begins with a lab band placed within

I am nervous and anxious and not sure when

When will I be at goal, when will I be thin?

I tried and tried all my life to please the scales

Yes tried to please them, ate nothing at all but to no avail

My family thinks I’m crazy, some might think I’m lazy

Just diet they say, and you’ll look amazing.

No one understands the pain and anguish of being this way

No one understands the strain it takes to breathe every day

I am thankful for my family and friends you see,

But this choice I’ve chosen is mine and for me.

So be there for me and cheer me on to the finish line

I promise you all I will get there this time!

Thank you Kat. I have more, but I am afraid they will get legs. And most of my writing is down to my core so very emotional, and can be actually hard to read for some people. If you want I can pm some more if you need a good cry!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
