6 weeks post-op. Not losing ANY weight. :(

I was sleeved on February 11, 2013. In the first 2 weeks post op, I lost an AMAZING 35 pounds. Iiiii know, right? BUT... tomorrow will be my 6 week post op and I haven't lost another pound. SO, I haven't lost a SINGLE ounce in the past 6 weeks. I've lost inches, that's obvious, but I'm getting reeeeally depressed. I don't have unrealistic expectations. I know that 35 pounds in 2 weeks is miraculous and weight will not continue to fall off that quickly... BUT, I would like to AT LEAST be losing 1 or 2 pounds a week!

I'm eating PERFECTLY by the book. No cheating at all. No over eating. I'm drinking my Protein Shakes and Water, crystal light, etc. The ONLY thing I can think of that would be stunting my weight loss is the fact that I have suffered from extreme Constipation (or, lack of necessity, really) since surgery. I've only "gone" once per week since surgery. EACH one of them was with medicinal assistance. And, when I DO "go", it's teeny tiny amounts. I KNOW I'm backed up.

I went to the doc last week and explained what I had been eating, how I have been constipated...etc. He simply said, "Constipation can be normal after this surgery. Keep taking the Fiber, milk of mag, etc and see you back in 4 weeks."

UGH. This was really frustrating.

I'm seriously at the point now where I'm feeling like maybe this surgery just isn't working for me somehow. May sound crazy... but, I feel as though I'm "done" losing weight. I feel like I may never lose another pound.

I need some reassurance. Had anyone had a weight-losing stall for FOUR WHOLE WEEKS?

Hang in there! 35# is a lot to lose for 6 weeks, no less TWO! :) Your body is probably just playing catch up. Definitely keep on the fiber & push the Water. Also, sleep is so important in shedding "cushion" weight, so along with that water, get at least 7-8 hrs. :)

From reading threads on here, it seems pretty common . I'm on week five and I stalled. I've been hitting the gym and putting all my calories in calorie king . So I know it's nothing I'm doing on my end. Hang in there , because losing all that weight is still a huge positive.

If you are working out that could stall things, your body is in shock. Try upping your calories by 100-200 if you can, your body may be in starvation mode. Hang in there, it will happen. As far as the Constipation, I am in the same boat, try prune juice once a day, it makes a difference, or if you can eat an apple, they are full of fiber.

Dont give up you will lose it!! I got sleeved on 2-14 and i have slowed way down. I started walking more and stared losing again.

I was sleeved the day after you. I have also lost 35 lbs, though not just in the first two weeks. I did have a one-week stall where I gained a pound a day for four days and took another 4 to lose them again, no cheating or other apparent reason for it. But I feel like 35 lbs in a little under 6 weeks is amazing!

I agree with those who said your body is readjusting. Be patient! But I also wonder about starvation mode. How many calories are you eating in a day, on average? I usually am somewhere between 800 and 1000 calories, at least 70 g of Protein (usually 80-100 g) and at least 8 c of Water.

Since you lost 35 pounds so quickly, it probably is your body adjusting, as the others said. I think a body can only turn loose of weight so fast. 35 pounds divided by 6 weeks is 5-6 pounds per week, when you average it over the course of your post op period. I think you are doing great!!

I lost 25 pounds the first month then almost 18 the second, but then it took me at least 6 weeks to lose about 8. Incidentally, I was very constipated during that time, too. I really so understand the frustration, especially when it seems you might be able to lose quickly! However, during that period of slow loss, I learned a really important lesson - that I couldn't give up! Before the surgery, if weight loss went too slow, I would just gradually increase my eating until I was no longer dieting. Now I know that I just have to wait it out, keep following the program, and the weight will come off. The longer I'm out from surgery, the more I am learning about my new way of life.

Just keep following the program, and I think you'll see, it WILL come off! Good luck, and keep us posted!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
