Long Term Success

Recommended Posts

All, My Lap band is on 12/8. Today is my pre op visit and attendance at the support group class. I took the day off of work becuase it is a 90 minutes commute just to get there. I watched the Today Show this morning for the first time in a long time and see that Al Roker is a lot heavier than after his surgery. Does anyone know if he had RNY or band surgery? Also are any of you guys long term "loosers".

I keep my emotions to my self and have not let on to my family that I am very scared, but also anxious.

Oh well...I'll take it day by day....

Al Roker had RNY surgery. No question. He looked pretty bad there for a while, and now he seems to be filling back out. But he still is way down from where he started!

I'm almost 3.5 years out, and more than 100 lbs lighter than when I started. The band is one of the best things to ever happen in my life. :)

Happy bandiversary, Carlene! You and Alexandra are both "Long-term Success" stories!

Don, the beautiful thing about the band is that it is adjustable. So, even when you're at goal weight, you can get it tweaked if you need some extra help. With RNY, the stoma can stretch over time, allowing food to pass through too quickly. That's why some RNY patients regain their weight, and occasionally get revision to the band.

HI,

I am three and a half years out and lost more than 150 pounds. I gained some back due to band problems, but I am losing again now that everything is working better. It still takes work, but I would never be this weight without my band.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
