BigFatLoser 331 Posted March 24, 2013 I'm 10 days post op and am on full liquids. I am instructed to drink the Protein Shakes and the Soups at 1cup over an hour. Did it no problem. Then I wasn't paying attention and ate it all in 30 min. Still just fine! I don't feel restriction or pain or anything, but then again I'm only on liquids and don't know how prevelant the restriction is at this stage. At most, i have the usual bit of gurgling that can be a tad uncomfortabke, but thats it. No signs that i NEED to stop eating. Can anyone give me any clarity on this? amymorrison29 on MyFitnessPal! johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 24, 2013 It takes a while to heal and for the restrictions to become more prevalent. Maybe a couple to 3 weeks if you follow what your Dr. wants and not try to jump ahead. Once you are eating more solid (soft) foods you will start to feel the restrictions. Right now the best thing is not to worry so much about eating and just make sure you are getting in your Proteins and liquids. 1 sastexan4u@yahoo.com reacted to this
mikeross 216 Posted March 24, 2013 I never really felt any restriction until I started eating soft foods and even then is wasn't that strong. Once you eat your first bites of normal solid food you will feel it. Then again there are solid slider foods that you will be able to eat a lot of before feeling restriction. Apparently my slider food is hard shell taco supremes from Taco Bell lol. Everything "johnlatte" posted is spot on... dont worry about restriction so much and focus on trying to meet your daily Water and Protein goals.
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted March 24, 2013 I'm 3+ months out and once you start enoughing solid Protein is when you really feel it. I can only eat an ounce or two of meat and other solid things. Fluids I've always beeen pretty unlimited with? It will change over time or you
BigFatLoser 331 Posted March 24, 2013 Thanks everyone. Logically I knew I was being illogical in my thinking. I just tend to want to know everything about everything. I guess part of this process will be letting go of my control issues. Thanks again amymorrison29 on MyFitnessPal!
Lyrakl 15 Posted March 24, 2013 I really measured my foods the first couple weeks and just made myself stop. I don't do it now, and I should. When I don't measure and over eat, I get a stuck feeling in my chest and it gets really tight and I wonder if I'm having a heart attack. Then I get lots of mucous in my throat. It's really unpleasant. So measure in the beginning!! You can test your restriction later when you're more healed.
