Emotions and sleeve tightness

Recommended Posts

I have been an emotional wreck the past 17 hours. Long story, short version: my dog was brutally attacked on our nightly walk by a large unleashed dog. Needless to say I couldn't eat dinner last night and spent most of the night up worrying. Today, I can also barely eat. I've been nursing a Protein Shake but it hurts to do more than sip it which is not my norm. Has anyone else had their emotions effect their sleeve?

Sure. Just be sure not to get dehydrated. Keeping your body hydrated is very important. Try to make sure you get your Vitamins in, too. I once went about two days of eating nothing, just drinking, because I didn't want to eat at all. It passed.

Thank you. I think he will be ok in time, he made it through surgery ok. He's got a pretty intense recovery ahead of him. :"(

I'm not sure about your sleeve but the same thing happened to me and my dog on a walk last year. I promptly went out and bought pepper spray, and its non part of what I take on every walk.

Thanks Joe. My Dad suggested the same thing. So I asked the vet this morning, she thinks it's a good idea too. There are way too many inattentive dog owners in my area. It will be my next purchase. I hope your dog is okay.

Your dog needs his Mom to be healthy - I agree, stay hydrated and just do what you can. But dehydration and lack of calories/protein can knock you on your butt really fast now!

Speedy recovery to the pooch and great health to you!

Yes.. Stress and emotions can make a difference. Same thing happened with the band as it does with my sleeve.

And so sorry for you dog.. And you. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your dog but yes emotions can totally totally make you feel like you can't eat a thing and what you do eat makes you feel very very tight in the chest. stressful situations will do that as well. I would recommend that you just drink your Protein shakes nice and slow and then everything will just go down and try not to eat while you feel that stress. I had the same thing happened to me with stress good luck.

Wow' date=' sorry about the pouch, I hope he will be ok. Did you find the owner of the dog that attacked him?[/quote']

Thank you. The owners was there, thank god, or my doggy would have died. He was playing in the middle of the street with his dog as we were walking down the sidewalk. Then the dog came up behind me and snatched my little guy away.

I never had a "nervous" stomach until I was sleeved, now my emotions totally affect how much ( if anything) i can eat/drink.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
