Beautiful before and after!

Recommended Posts

This is a little rant.

I went to my doctor 1 week out for the routine post-surgery check. She was talking about my daughter's wedding, and she said, "you are going to look so good for her wedding!" I replied, "what do you mean? I look really good now!"

I am a beautiful girl (my husband tells me this everyday!). I was before the surgery. I am now after surgery - over 50 lbs lighter. I realize that I look "better". I do. But this surgery isn't a guaranteed fix to everyone's self esteem. If you had really low self esteem before surgery, losing weight may or may not fix it. If all of your self esteem issues were related to your weight, then maybe it will. If you have been skinny before and had low self esteem issues then...chances are you will have self esteem issues after your weight loss. Unless you work on fixing them!

At my heaviest, I always knew skinny girls that I had more confidence than.

You are beautiful, too! In all honesty....this forum is loaded with beautiful girls at all sizes. No matter where you are in the weight loss journey, embrace who you are at this moment and take a minute to feel beautiful and amazing. Don't wait until all the weight is off before you start loving yourself. Do it now. :)

That is all.

Very good message, and lots will benefit from hearing/reading it. Myself included!!

I have always been heavy and have never felt beautiful. The supposed compliment of "you have such a pretty face" has never made me feel great about myself, it feels more like an insult. And I hear it a lot, and I agree that I have a lovely face, but it seems in our society having a nice face doesn't mean much. So many allegedly beautiful women only have rockin bodies - no one seems to notice or care if they have an ugly face. So, I'm kinda hoping to fit into societies standards of beauty a bit more, but that's not really my goal for having surgery, either.

I'm not expecting this surgery to make me beautiful, just healthier. Anything else that comes with that will just be a bonus. :)

Yeah the health is the best reason to have the surgery. No question! But you do know that if you weren't pretty, no one would make the compliment you have a pretty face! :)

Yes, Ma'am!! I agree completely. I am already tired of people telling me how happy I will be. I am like... the one thing that scares me is not being happy after. I am completely happy in my life and though I do not LOVE LOVE my body I have grown to be okay with it and love parts of it... accept the rest. I am scared that if I have complications that I may be miserable and that may in return make it hard to be happy with my life after surgery. THAT is my biggest fear going into this. I also worry about how bad the lose skin will be. Again, I am completely okay with my body now and I feel attractive... I know my husband finds me attractive and that is what matters to me. I worry about him being attracted to me with tons of loose skin. I have to keep reminding myself that it is for my health and that I can have plastic surgery done to take care of some of the skin I end up with. I really deeply feel that it will all come out okay though and I will learn to love my new body just as the one I have now

: )

IDK...I've got the loose skin and I'm around 11 months out. I'm close to my surgeon's goal, but think I can do better. I feel amazing. Confidence and energy and positivity. Right now I'm in the "cute clothes can cover a multitude of sins" camp. I like go wear clothes that fit really well, and when they start getting loose I ditch them for something even cuter and tighter. I never liked the way I looked, like ever. Now I do. Someday I may get plastic surgery, but maybe not. I am happy with me and its an awesome feeling.

Life is just too short to not be happy. I know, it is so cliche' but so true. I am really glad that there are others who are seizing the moment and enjoying life now. :)

I worried about whether or not my husband would find me attractive with loose skin, too. I don't have much yet, but I think he will love me regardless. :) The health benefit is absolutely worth it. And I do feel even more confident now, than I did before surgery. :)

Amen!

I love been normal weight and I am bursting with happiness, but it is for so many reasons... i just feel good! I know many lovely happy ladies who have some extra pounds and some very sad ones who are stick thin. The point is, we choose happiness; it isn't caused by a number on a scale!

Oh, and i have loose skin...lots of it after losing 150#. IT drives me crazy, but other people still seem to think I am good enough looking even with it. :)

Do NOT let that fear slow anybody down.... regain your health! For me, that has been the pillar of happiness, just physically feeling good!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
