I'm not complaining but....

Is this normal?

I was sleeved on the 18th and am eagerly following all of the posts here. I was considered to be part of the lower bmi group and could never lose weight easily before due to my pcos so I assumed I'd be one of those slow losers which I was totally okay with being.

But I'm not so far. As of today, 6 days out, I've lost 12 pounds. 20 since the pre-op. Awesome, right? But everyone I'm following who had the surgery the same month as me are showing much more (to my way of thinking) reasonable losses after surgery. Could there be anything going wrong? Or am I starting to freak for no reason? Another thing that's weirding me out (on a good way) is that I was just graced with the first period I've had since Thanksgiving!!!

I do almost constantly pace (pain management issues from the hernia that was also fixed) but I'm only able to choke down about 35-40 g of Protein a day and I know I'm not getting enough Water.

My new tummy and life is a weird thing. But is what's going on normal or should I pester my doctor? o_o

12 lbs in 6 days that's awesome. Especially for a lower bmi-er! I'm a lower bmi-er and I don't recall losing that much that quickly. I'm 6 months out now and am at goal. You'll have faster/slower loss at times, but the inches still seem to come off during a stall... Try really hard to get in your h20/protein...Pestering your doctor probably won't help though... Good luck and keep us posted on your success! You'll lose, don't worry...

I was sleeved on the 18th too! I got my period 3 weeks early, and I'm on BC. I lost 12lbs pre op, and I've lost 18lbs since surgery. I'm a high bmi tho! If something is wrong, it's wrong with both of us :)

I was sleeved the 18th also and the day of surgery I was 223 on my scale at home and 213 this morning. It's been 6 days and I am very happy with this much. I am not focusing on how much others have lost-- it will make you crazy comparing to others.

I also had my surgery on the 18th. I was just under 41% BMI when I started. I lost 9 pounds on my 6 day preop diet. I am down 23.6 pounds total as of today which is 14.6 pounds since my surgery on Monday! I am averaging 70 oz of Fluid a day and around 25 grams of Protein. I walk a little about ten minutes or so on the hilled street in front of my house but then my back hurts because I can't stand up straight. I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Which makes me have am under active thyroid. So I am shocked how much weight I have dropped in such a short time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
