My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! I wish I would of been open to the idea and possibly had it done at a lower BMI.

Hi everyone' date=' I'm 6 days out n I can't lie the 2nd day I was like OMG! What have I done? N yesterday was a very tough day for me. I cried alot n so did my hubby because he didnt want to eat without me. They had chinese food n it was so hard to accept that I couldnt eat it. This liquid phase is no joke. I'm tired of Soup n Jello but hey this is what I signed up for. N I know soon I will start feeling n looking better. Good Luck! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Hi Ylopez - don't worry - I was sleeved July last year and things get much easier! You are right about the liquid phase!

No regrets here! I think we all have OMG moment but it doesn't last once you come to terms with the new way you will eat. You will eventually be able to eat with your husband and it will be your new normal - you will both be so happy when you see the weight coming down!

I think it's pretty normal for you to feel that "OMG, what did I do?" feeling for a little bit. It's a major life change. From people more than 6 months out, it seems like most people are VERY happy with their decisions. I am looking forward to being in a place where I feel the same way! :)

I regret it. I have lost more weight on my own in the past than with this "tool". I don't eat bad things, only Protein, zero carbs, low calories. I have NO HUNGER at all. I like that part but my scale is not moving. I went from 313 to 290 and then the scale jumped to 295 over night and won't move. I'll now have to drag my 6 kids to a gym so I can work out to try to break this stall and feel like I haven't just wasted 6000.00 dollars

Hi Ginny

I know how frustrating it can be when it feels like you are doing all the right things and not seeing the results. You might find that you are not actually eating enough or eating regularly enough. Try eating something every 2-3 hours - even if you don't feel hungry. I am not sure how long your stall has lasted but it sounds like your body has gone into famine. It can only hold on for so long before it starts to burn off the weight. You are probably right that exercise will kick start the weight loss but I would give it a bit more time - taking 6 kids to the gym would be enough exercise on it's own! Keep going and don't give up on it yet!

What you should of done is handle it like a mature adult which means you should of grabbed the plate full of food and throw it against the wall and tell them if they wanna eat then they better be locked in their rooms with fans blowing the smell out the house. I mean that's what I would of done. Lol actually felt like that a lot. I lived in my room when they ate. It was torture!

Omg - roflmao! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
