supportivespouse911 33 Posted March 23, 2013 I am a supportive spouse and will be traveling with my wife who is being sleeved April 2 by Dr.Garcia at Mi hospital. We arrive Monday the 1st. I plan to document our journey with photos and information as we go! This is a very exciting time for my wife and our family. Such a life changing event. I am very proud of my wife for having the courage to do this as well as doing so much research to reassure me. I have to admit that I was quite skeptical about it when she first came to me but after all the research she has done, and after learning more- I am very excited for her. And support her 100%. We went through a very tough process with our damn insurance and after all the work, hoops we jumped through, time, and frustration she decided to look into Mexico and off we go in about 10 days. Currently we are in the preop diet. I say we because of a couple reasons- one- she is not doing this alone. I plan to be with her every step of the way and go through it with her. While I am not being sleeved- i know part of her success depends on me and my support. And two- I can stand to lose a few pounds myself. I just had our second baby (yes I am a girl as well) and would like to lose 40-50 pounds myself so what better way then to Diet right along with her! So as I said... Research- done. Arrangements and flights- done. Protein Shakes, Vitamins, and all the other little things we need- done. Pre op diet- working on it! She only needed to do 7 days but decided to get a jump on things so started at 14 days. I am hoping to either find more "support persons" out there or at least as I document my wife's journey- you can share it with your support person! I had many questions that we have found answers to and some we haven't. I guess we will get those answers along the way! 4 MrsPiggleWiggle, KatInFL, hurley911 and 1 other reacted to this

Sadtosaygoodbye 256 Posted March 24, 2013 I think it's great that you are soooo supportive!! I think it is so very important, that our loved ones take an active role in this weight loss journey. Things can turn out so very wrong, I have read several threads with spouses who sabotage and create insecurities for the person who has had this surgery. Again kudos to you for being a great support system, and for becoming a healthier person yourself. I am a mother as well, and I can say I have more energy and enthusiasm about my future, Good luck and well wishes to you both.

I will be leaving Mexico as ya'll are arriving, but I hope all goes smoothly. ~Kat
