Fiddleman 4,376 Posted March 23, 2013 We had 6 inches of snow yesterday in Everett area and it was a blizzard out. I had to do my training inside. Not today though. Sun is out, blue skies, and a beautiful day for a hike. Here is a picture from atop mount si. Mount Si is a hike for every one. 4000 feet of climb over 4 miles. Not terribly difficult, but you will get winded if not ready for it. There are runners, families, old people, young people, etc. Usually 100-200 people on the trail at a time so it gets a little crowded. I have not been up here in 20 years ( high school). Up in 45 min, a new personal record. The birds are hovering in front of me as I munch my Protein Bar. The little beggars... First major hike since VSG. By the way, if you are interested in hikes this summer, I am looking for a local hiking buddy to do PCT, wonderland and enchantments. coops 1,790 Posted March 23, 2013 Awesome! Where we live, uk - Wales, we are surrounded by mountains and they've always eluded me! I did try several years ago, pre sleeve, and failed at about a third of the way. Last year webhadba very wet summer so I just didn't get the opportunity to get to the top! This year I will!! Seeing your post and pictures has reminded me and given me that motivation to get to the top! Thank you for posting. 1 Fiddleman reacted to this

I always like to share various endeavors with fellow sleevers, perhaps sparking an idea that they can follow up on. I like reading adventures of other sleevers as well!! Pepper Paul 143 Posted March 24, 2013 Sounds like a great hike! I may have to check it out later this summer after I'm in a bit better shape. Last summer we did the Mt. Pilchuck hike. It's 2425 vertical feet and it took most of the day and nearly killed me. I'm going to do it again this summer but hoping to cut the hike time in half. I highly recommend it if you haven't done it before. The views from the fire tower at the top are spectacular! 1 rosehips reacted to this
journeygrl 27 Posted March 24, 2013 My husband said Everett had some snow We are just north of you (20 min?) and didn't get anything. We hiked around on mt Erie back in January, but nothing like what you are talking. I'll have to take my kids up there. They will love it! 1 Fiddleman reacted to this

I highly recommend it if you haven't done it before. The views from the fire tower at the top are spectacular! Oh yeah! Mount philchuck is another great hike. It is another gateway hike like mount si, but for the North Sound, that has a little something for everyone. I try and get up it a couple times a summer, but it is often quite crowded. I am glad you are hiking. It is another great way to get in shape and be rewarded with nature and fantastic views from the top. I have been on quite a few hikes behind Mount Pilchuck, so let me know if you are looking for a new hike as you get into hiking more. Many different levels of difficulty also, depending on what you want. I think one of my favorite has been Gothic Basic (@barlow pass near monte cristo hike).
