I had my sleeve done 3-18 and have kept to my sugar free liquid diet. I've done stuff around the house walked to the mailbox (we have a prvt driveway) stuff like that. I have my 1 week apt withe the. NUT on Tuesday. I started at 262 and today 256. What am I doing wrong!? Why isn't the weight coming off?

Also, I haven't had a bowel movement since before the surgery. Is this normal?

I really need some guidance. Thank you

Kacy

You lost 5 lbs in 5 days in your first week post op. That IS normal and you're not doing anything wrong. Constipation is normal too. :)

Welcome to the board NEWBIE :)

We've been expecting you!!! :)

things will get better - you will loose weight

your new tummy is so "teeny weeny" that the weight can't help but come off!!!!

your tummy is now 85% smaller than it used to be - you will be eating far less food

5 lbs is great - some loose more, but some loose less weight, or i've heard some have even gained (IV, Water et al)

you're not doing anything wrong, really

good for you that you started doing a little walking

you are only drinking - no bowel movement???

think about it - makes sense!!!!

never compare your weight loss, time period to anyone elses stats

one thing we all have in common is that "we're all different"

you just need to be a little patient

God Grant Me Patience Just Hurry Up About It!!!

:)

It is hard when you dont drop what you expected to. I had read and read so knew i could have a slow start, but when it actually happened, i found it very disheartening but pushed through and just kept doing the right thing. I lost NONE until about mid way through the 3rd week but then started dropping a pound here and there. I still usually lose for 3 days then stay the same for 3-4 days...rinse and repeat. Just trust your sleeve, stick to the program, and it will work for you!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
