6 month check up

Recommended Posts

Hello

So I had my 6 month check up with my doctor and have learned that I lost 76% of my excess body fat . I have lost a total of 100 lbs and need 35 more to go . I am noticing that I'm not losing as much weight per week as I have in the past and feeling more of an appetite . I have made changes to my diet , like eating more nuts and fruits and less meats but still am not dropping the pounds like in the past . Any suggestions anyone ?

I lost 76% of my excess body fat .

miko

losing all that body fat, weight!!!! :)

thats "huge"

you started 135 lbs overweight - so the initial weight loss went a little quicker - or put it the obvious other way, since you don't have that much to lose now - things are slowing up a bit

sure, i tell tell you to up your Protein, or lower your calories, or maybe even raise your calories - get plenty of excercise - drink more Water

but..........you know all this!!!!

you've been so successful :)

you will continue to do great

keep up the good work :)

congrats

Miko, WOW! 100lbs!?? That's awesome - very inspiring for someone like me, for sure :)

Advice, yeah... Give yourself a nice big ol' pat on the back and don't sweat the last 35lbs. They'll come off when it's their time. Focus on how amazing you must feel and look forward to a summer filled with many more fun things to do than in the past.

Great job, buddy!

Thanks everyone . It hasn't been easy but yes it's been well worth it . I just hope these last stubborn pounds come off soon as I'm stuck and haven't lost a pound for 2 weeks now .

My doc told me to go back to my preop diet for 3 days when I started noticing hunger 2 years out. He was right. That's all it took. I noticed my original restriction all over again. Worked like a charm.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
