My physician weighed me, went over my LAB, EKG and EGD results. Told me what to expect before during and after surgery. He then allowed me to ask whatever questions I had.

I can honestly tell you the first night was pure HELL!! But especially for me. I told the anesthesiologist NOT to give me dilaudid, it make me terrible nauseous and anxious, low and behold after surgery I wake up in PACU with a PCA(patient controlled anesthesia) the nurse was telling me to push my button of course I did. A few hours later I was puking my guts up and feeling like I was losing it. Later I asked what was in the PCA and the nurse said dilaudid!!! Well they changed the medication and I had to stay an extra day. That was the only thing that was bad, I am a PACU nurse myself and I was just lost for words. However the majority of the March sleevers on a thread I am following say the same thing the first day is the worst, I took pain meds for 2 days after returning home and that was it. I feel better than normal, the day after I came home I started walking 3 x's a day for 20 min. My mom flew in to help with the kids while the hubby was a work, honestly I have not really needed help. I keep joking with my mom that I am taking care of her more than she is of me. Shes been great company. Well good luck to you, and like and like I said you will love the hospital and the nurses they were exceptional.

Yes the anesthesiologist was great with the nausea meds, it was the dilaudid that killed me. I haven't weighed myself this week yet, but last time I weighed I lost 23lbs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
