I hate going to the grocery store, nothing tastes good. Things I loved before surgery now I can't stand. Good in a way cuz a lot of my favs got me to 247. I'm ruining out of things to try to eat. I just had a little roast beast sandwich meat with a pickle and it was gagnacious.

I'm 7 weeks out. Did any one else go thru this?

Eat or drink what feels good. Reject the rest. Keep healthy choices in mind. The end.

Yes. The first time I went grocery shopping after surgery I was almost depressed. I kept thinking of all the things I couldn't eat but then I changed my attitude and looked at it more like what can I try that's healthy and that might appeal taste wise to me now. I actually had fun then picking out different things to try. I had never had garbanzo Beans and now I love them! Same with turkey chili! I bought shrimp and imitation crab and it was really good. Just try different things you've never tried before. You might be surprised that while there are things not appealing to your taste buds since surgery, other things will taste better now.

The store is like a scavenger hunt to me. I search out what I can have. I always end up spending too much but that's ok. It's like a game. I've found some really yummy stuff. I am positively obsessed with Brat Hans chicken meatballs in pineapple teriyaki. They are moist and flavorful. This week I'm going to buy those 100 calorie spicy guacamole packs. I love the store and just make sure I don't walk down the junk food isles.

I am 5 months out...

I still hate to go grocery shopping! I like costco for cheese sticks and trader joes for turkey Jerky. I know where it is and I go straight in and straight out!

Shopping sucks!!!!! I feel lost in there and just send my husband.

Well I don't eat it all the time or a lot of it when I do. I get these little packs for a dollar at Walmart and they are called seafood snackers. I will eat 2 of the 4 pieces and it's 40 calories, 3grams of Protein and 7 grams of carbs. I guess its a little high but i didn't think it was too bad. I don't really eat anything with carbs tho. I cant have breads, pastas, grains or white potatoes for 4 more months so I'm not worried about the carbs for now. They make a great snack! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
